It's really unsatisfying to contemplate emotional regulation when one's anxiety is dialed up to the maximum, but that's pretty much the only thing to do right now if you dislike the current state of affairs and would like to one day have a say in changing anything.

Consider this: instigated by provocateurs or not, what did the people participating in the Capitol riot accomplish for their own interests by getting caught up in the moment? They handed their enemies justification to persecute them and stomp people sympathetic to their points of view into the fucking dirt for years to come, that's what. These tyrannical fucks want people whipped up into a constant state of frothing agitation to the point that some of them will do ill-considered things and get themselves arrested. That's why this is happening and will continue to happen. There are two ways to deal with that.
The first is realizing what you re dealing with.
