The Most Evil People in Human History

Operation Sealion was literally impossible, to the point where even the Nazis accepted it and didn't do it. Read this.

Turns out sailing a bunch of repurposed river barges over the Channel against a massively superior navy isn't a great recipe for success. Military history discussions here are usually nonsense but that really takes the cake, biscuit, and the whole bakery.

Also the whole "Germany could have won with the help of that notable superpower Ireland" is nonsense too. The Republic of Ireland had already been independent since 1922 and Northern Ireland was mostly loyalist. Germany tried to help the IRA, but they got nowhere and the Irish government arrested them because they didn't want to be fooling around in the middle of a world war. Ireland gave weather reports to the allies before D-day, while Germany accidentally bombed Dublin.

Even Wikipedia can fill you in on Irish neutrality during WW2 and their relationship with Germany.
By Alison Brooks.

Really dude? This has to be bait.

It doesnt and I could write it off as simply a fallacy, but pretty much every conversation we've had on this subject involves you playing softball with the Reich and immediatly jumping on anything critical of it, you've either got an exceptionally jaded worldview where you view everyone in the period as just as bad or you've got a soft spot for schicklegruber. If you think this is unfair Feel free to pm me since I don't really want to shit up the thread, especially as it's tangental to my comment that saying Churchill was responsible for ww2 is absurd.

Rehabilitating the reich is stupid, but I think we can agree that we wouldn't have nazis if we didn't have commies, and for that we really ought to ask ourselves why it's so one-sided.

Also "learning history so we don't repeat it" is a fucking stupid meme, we have been hammered to near death about nazi germany and yet here we are, serious politicians and extremely influential elite unironically creating lists of political enemies in order to "do something".

It's not Alison Brooks the architect, it's a dead history buff who used to post on Usenet back in the day. Different people can have the same name. If you want another take on why Sealion was impossible, try this.

A lot of evil people in history were forgotten about because any crimes they've committed remained obscure. I'm convinced that many of the most evil people remain unnoticed because no one can fully understand all the intentions of anyone else. If everyone was as heavily documented as someone like Elliot Rodger, it could be easier to figure out who among those people is the most evil by an objective standpoint. If everyone wrote an extensive manifesto that was true to their thought process, you could look for one which expresses the most internal negativity and the fewest "good" traits. I bet one of the most evil people living right now is just living in a delusion where they think they're doing extremely evil things at the moment. For them, they'd rather pretend reality is the way they want it to be because they know it won't come true in the real world.

Hitler is only perceived as more evil because he's part of the "recent past"

I remember this historian mentioning how Alexander did a lot of hitler-ish things and yet nobody mentions that and he's still regarded as a great man even in lands he conquered, he's even in the quran even though he basically assraped the entire middle east on his way to India

The point the historian wanted to make is that eventually hitler will be seen as just another conqueror and maybe even in a positive way because of some of the feats he accomplished, even if he fucked up and anheroed at the end

What media that is saved speaks positively of hitler?

We depend on sources from the time period and although often periods and people get an undeserved bad rep, like "the dark ages", we are always at the mercy of the evidence that remains.

For example, we have little knowledge of the spiritual thought of the ancient greek philophers, because we depended on christians and muslims for transmission of their ideas.

How well preserved do you think Irving's work is going to be, is basicly the question when it comes to how Hitler is going to be regarded.

Thats irrelevant, history gets ommited or even rewritten if necessary

When stalin was pushing for more purges he basically rehabilitated ivan the terrible making him look less like an insane fucking asshole and more like a tough-love kind of leader that got russia on its feet, which is exactly what he liked to pretend to be when he wasnt deporting entire families to cannibal island

Right now hitler is only hated in the western world, the rest of the planet either dont care or even admires him for being the guy bombing the shit out of the colonial powers that fucked them over in the past. In china for example despite the japs raping them like in a guro hentai it was the germans who were supplying them with weapons and training which is how they managed to resist since the west didnt really give two shits about the japs' adventures in china until pearl harbor and the attacks on their cash-crop colonies. That and xi the pooh really could do like stalin and rebrand hitler as just some guy who stood against the imperialist west or some shit if it benefits him, and like or not china has every major hollywood studio by the balls, for years they been able to dictate which movies get made and which dont or else it wont enter the chinese market. If a movie flops in the chinese market it flops, period, studios just cant afford to piss off the ccp

Joe Jackson (Michael's dad, not the singer)

Idi Amin
Joel Steinberg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joel_Steinberg
Lois Jurgens. Simply reading what she did to her adopted children would make any pro-lifer cringe. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Dennis_Jurgens
Andrew Cunanan
Anders Brevik
Adam Lanza
Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold

That's all that come to mind.
Anders Breivik did nothing wrong

I would say either Chris Watts or Jodi Arias, they were both evil people who killed for very petty things(infidelity and revenge). Hitler and Stalin are too easy

Are you referring to Podcaster Dan Carlin by any chance? Because on Hardcore History he likes to compare Hitler to other leaders who commited Genocide like Julius Ceasar did to the Gauls.

I dunno what to make of leaders who decided to just mass murder people they've never met much less give fair judgement to. I think I would lose sleep over the thought that my actions could result in decent people having their lives destroyed because of my actions. Which means I couldn't even be a mayor of a small town much less a leader of a nation.

The thing that I think seperates a leader like Hitler from ancient leaders that decided to mass murder is that the Nazis didn't even take pity upon mentally ill and disabled, see Aktion T4. When you see a mentally retarded person and you think the just thing to do is to "put them out of their misery" I think such a person simply has no empathy for others whatsoever.

As evil as homicidal racism is at least Hitler truly believed Jews were standing in the way from having a "great Aryan society" Julius Ceasar saw the Gauls and viewed them as standing in the way of having a great Roman empire. But I don't think Romans would murder a pitiful insane hobo for the sake of cleansing.

Mao Zedong.

At least 40 million died under his rule and he put the CCP, which is currently committing several genocides, in power.

I think you're also forgetting how completely attitudes and values can change with time. Eugenics, to varying degrees, was actually a quite popular philosophy back in the day. On top of that, the belief in an afterlife was somewhat more pervasive back then. Religious scholars would often write in their ruminations that it might be better to release them from the suffering of the mortal coil under the genuine belief that they'd be going to a likely better place afterwards.

It's a similar situation to how, in the early days of chattel slavery, it was hailed as a more humane type of slavery since the slaves were not castrated and allowed to marry, albeit often temporarily. Plus, given that starvation was a more pervasive cause of death, the same "three hots and a cot" attitude that some apply to modern prison was sometimes in effect. Slaves lost their freedom, poor freedmen starved to death. It's why you see so many appalachians, black and white, roll their eyes at "muh slabery". The attitudes are entirely alien, separated by so much time and missing the context of the times.

Now, the Nazis were a bit more calculating and cold about it than the religious scholar example, but it wasn't an uncommon attitude of the time. That's why, yeah, the Nazis were evil by modern standards and maybe even the standards of the day, but to call them the "most" evil is laughable.

The spartans basically killed anyone at birth that looked even a bit weak, that at a time when a lot of women died at childbirth so there wasnt a surplus of babies to be culled. In many other cultures like the ancient japanese and the nordics the weak and the old got killed off for the benefit of the village, sometimes abandoned to die. The hansel and gretel story is literally some guy abandoning his kids to die so he doesnt have to feed them, but nowadays its a fucking children's book, how long until WWII is looked at like this?

There's this anime called LoGH and besides the homoeroticism and lack of weebshit one thing it makes right is showing how history just goes on. The series takes place in the year 3000something and by then lots of shit happened, nobody remembers the US or even Earth, its all ancient history, they're as far removed from our age as we're from the late roman empire, only historians in the series bother talking about the old days, and earth itself is a ruin like carthage because of some war where it got fucked over by its former colonies, who knows that people in that era would think of hitler
