Did you read the rest of my post? Far from a libtard, my friend. Just a member of the American workforce, who plays an integral part in my community. While I find methheads to be entertaining, there are plenty of other interesting individuals. I’d rather keep my money than pay for their rehabilitation/incarceration.
 
Since this thread has somehow become about meth usage, I might as well put in my two cents. I unironically want to legalize every drug, and that includes meth. There's a number of reasons for this (such as how research into dark web drug markets show that the free market leads to safer and more effective drugs), but I obviously don't think you should do the hard shit. That being said, most people go into extreme drugs because of mental health issues, and psychedelics can do wonders for that. If you were planning on doing meth and weren't mentally ill, then the ban on meth clearly wasn't going to stop you, or else we wouldn't have meth issues to begin with. At least this way, the purer meth that comes from active competition between cooks means less people going to the hospital because of poisoning. Ultimately, though, most addicts come from retarded doctors who over-prescribe painkillers and benzos. Tackle them, and drug use will plummet.

Some of it seems like it’s based in loose knowledge, littered with vocabulary, but ultimately nonsense. The shit that really gets me is when he starts talking about his physiology in directions. It’s like he read every other page of a textbook while coloring over the remainder with crayola.

The thing about schizophrenics, at least from the view of a guy who watches them online for fun, is that they're almost universally quite intelligent, but they way in which they think is warped. This guy can read and comprehend (to as much of a degree as you or I can) a huge amount of what he sees, but the moment it's filtered through his brain it's twisted up into a strange pretzel. It's just wrong enough to be clearly absurd, but presented in a way that has internal logic to it.

Thinking back to a famous schizophrenic person, Terry Davis could program an iron-clad operating system with its own programming language and make pretty advanced references and jokes (Holy C = Holy See). But from the way he spoke and wrote you could tell there was that "word salad" quality to his way of expressing himself along with frequent use of really warped filler phrases like CIA nigger. Advanced concepts put together in an off-kilter sort of way and peppered with weirdness.

That does seem to be the common theme. I guess it’s undeniable that he has schizophrenia though. It’s pretty apparent from the word salad you mentioned. My mistake was trying to rationalize his words. When someone gets to explaining scientifically understood concepts with nonsense, I’m curious.

That's the captivating thing about him, I think. If you didn't know anything about any of those terms, it would sound totally legitimate, and yet the lynchpin of the entire theory is that severe brain abnormalities can be diagnosed based on which half of your face grimaces when you drink a soda. It's the one-two punch of sounding really interesting and then being undergirded by something totally bizarre.

As a case in point, anticholinergics don't cause "blurred vision", they cause there to be space behind the eyes. What has to fill that space?

Keep in mind the old saying that there is a fine line between genius and madness goes to the heart of schizophrenia. There is a strong association between families that have schizophrenia in members also having extremely brilliant members, almost like if you don’t get struck with schizophrenia you have better odds at being quite intelligent. (Obviously plenty exceptions)

The connection seems particularly strong in higher mathematics. A study I ready years ago found that a high percentage of mathematic Ph.D teaching at universities had a schizophrenic family member, commonly in the immediate family.

Einstein’s first son, with his Hungarian wife who was also a brilliant mathematician, suffered from schizophrenia so severe he was institutionalized his entire adult life.

Schizophrenia certainly makes people thing in radically different ways from non-afflicted people. My theory is that non-afflicted family members also have some degree of unusual or unique ways of thinking that end up lending themselves to breakthroughs and ways to solve or view problems never before considered.

Of course, you also have people with schizophrenia who make breakthroughs. John Nash is an obvious example, though his schizophrenia became so severe it hindered and stopped most of his work after 30. I think Bobby Fischer may have suffered from schizophrenia. Unfortunately while schizophrenia can create new insight or ways of thinking it also is extremely debilitating and robs ppl of their grasp on reality, so obviously the downside is x10000 worse than any upside.

However, non-afflicted family members seem to benefit from the genetic witches brew that can cause schizophrenia in a sibling, but spare them from the disease.

I wish there was better and more comprehensive treatment for it. It’s well beyond our modern pop-psychology and over labeling for mental illnesses. The ancient Greeks wrote about schizophrenia so obvious, specific and severe are its symptoms and presentation. It really should be taken out of the “mental illness” category because it’s beyond a chemical imbalance and a true neurological disease. It should be treated as such and far more treatment and support should be given to people stricken with it.

Almost every person I know who became afflicted with it was a bright, successful, productive young person (usually in college) who was suddenly hit with this cruelest of diseases that robbed them of the future they had planned.

I have the same degree of sympathy for people with schizophrenia as I do with people afflicted with ALS - it’s a cruel fucking disease no one deserves. I feel lucky I didn’t get struck with such a nasty affliction and therefore feel the least I can do is help fund treatment and support for ppl who did. I certainly would have hoped people would have shown me the same kindness and support if I had gotten ill.

Nevermind the fact that studying schizophrenia has so much to teach us about how the human mind functions. Funding research and treatments for it benefits all humans.

You could say intelligence is the ability to notice patterns and schizophrenia is the ability to notice patterns ON CRACK.
