I understand wanting to see your family, but to Dobby it seems like it's more than that - he specifically wants to see them on Christmas, not just in general. And his whole "being sad about the Jewish kid not having Christmases" thing clearly shows that he feels that the Christmas ritual has some kind of resonance and value beyond just spending time with family, because the Jewish kid will presumably get all of that. Although he probably isn't really thinking about it that hard.

Most of the people spending money on Dobbles' art are the same people who nitpick and troll him. He's about as legit as Chris, but at least Chris' work has that autistic charm going for it. Dobson's art is just... autistic.

Ironically, Dobson would probably be more popular if his art was actually worse, but in a funny way. Right now, I feel like it's at that point where it's bad, but not bad enough to qualify for So Bad It's Good status. Like, the fanfiction equivalent of being just enough better than My Immortal that your story is simply awful instead of hilariously awful.

Even when his characters are happy they don't look it. Part of it is because he adds too many lines to their faces, but I think it's mostly because Dobson himself doesn't know or doesn't remember what happiness feels like. He just prefers to be negative all the time.

The thing with his art, is that it is okay. That is the problem with Dobson. You can be a smug asshole if your art is awesome or awful. Not in the below average that Dobson is in. But Dobson will never improve. He just won't. My artwork sucks ass even comparde to Dobson, but here is the thing: I ain't smug about it. I don't get paid for doing it. If I could paid for doing it, you betcha that I would try my hardest to improve.

Okay. Now, let's assume we were interested in these snippets, what would we make of them? It's not like they show ANYTHING interesting. It's not like you look at them and go "Oh, I wanna see the entire image!", it's more like a "What the fuck am I looking at here?" thing. They are clearly meant as 'appetizers' that are supposed to get his fans fired up for the new art, but ... there's nothing there. If it was a snippet of something remotely recognizeable, it might catch someone's attention, but there's nothing. It's a fragment of a (particularly badly drawn) wheel, a piece of badly drawn background...

He probably saw someone posting a preview of his/her art and decided to do the same, but since he's a cheap asshole, he doesn't want to "give away too much", so he settles for "giving away nothing".
Seems reasonable. Dobson is the perfect personification of the problem.

I do have to say, though, it's partially a fault of the ones making the show it seems. I never watched SU, but to me, it seems the characters look like females behave like females and are, to all intents and purposes, female. The only thing making them agender is a bit of fluff saying so.
