Someone inform Dobson that his Patreon is about to hit the point where he's expected to actually do work.

I look forward to hearing about the monthly wallpapers being released after half the month's over because "artistic license" and "I'm working on art that is getting me paid" and other nonsense.

He won't delete his DA account because he'll be back. If he closed his current account, he'd never get that number of followers back.

I kinda feel sorry for him that he never managed to successfully transplant those followers off that network at the right time. Now he just has thousands of dead accounts following him DA and giving DA and inflated sense of importance to him when really only a single % of them are actually engaging with his work on that platform anymore.

As well as giving most everyone a negative rating he said something like he thought it was dumb that people were making fun of Tom Preston leading to a bit of a thread derailment where DNJACK was accused of being a sock puppet account of his.

But in all seriously, this is pretty sad. Dobson had his pateron for how many months, and now he has reached around $100 in pateron support. And other comic book/ webcomic artists have how much in pateron support? Gah, Dobson honestly should be focusing more on his drawing, then playing splatoon or twitting about random stuff that no one really cares about.

I personally believe that any of the artists here on the kiwi farms can definitely get more than $100 in their pateron in a mere month compared to Dobson.

DA is a great place if you want to post art for free and make a start creating... but the second you want to try and actually make money for your hard work, this place turns into “artists should make art for art’s sake and not for money” backlash. And unfortunately I can’t live like that. I need money and support if I’m going to continue to make work.

He sounds like he's replying specifically to my comments here. I wasn't the only critical commentator on his previous journal, but it sounds like I came particularly close to hitting a chord with him. Speaking of which, notice he's still letting us "haters" ruin his day despite his whole legion of white knights. That to me is the sign of a guy who knows, deep down, that he has a problem.

Dobson's whole attitude almost reminds me of my own five years ago, and yet he has to be, what, ten years my senior?
