I just cannot fathom how she is only 29.

It's a constant state of "Wow, how did she make it that long?" and "Holy shit she's only 29?" for me for sure.

On another note, at least on Halloween it's easier to mistake her for a prop than be horrified that she's an actual human... She just looks otherworldly, and not in that bullshit ethereal "manic pixie dream girl" way, but more in a Guillermo del Toro monster way.

I wonder if there's a point where being starved makes you so out of it that it's like being on dope or something. Whereas every time they have a good meal, they get lucid enough to freak out about the state they're in, and they don't like it.

I've wondered about this, about the immediate effects of one nutrious, filling, and (for very low weight patients) safe meals that won't risk refeeding problems - do they get an immediate boost to the brain? The same way a normal person will feel sluggish and spacey if they haven't eaten all day, but suddenly find themselves much more alert if they have a decent but healthy meal?

Or does it take lots of meals? I know you can't repair the type of brain damage extreme starvation produces in a single day, but how fast IS that process? If Ashley gave it all up today, and started with the refeeding process, would her brain ever really heal?

No, it does not have that effect.

That's one reason it is so hard to treat anorexia for example, it literally makes them stupid and they can't think rationally until they've been fed for months and long term inpatient care for an anorexic adults is pretty much impossible to enforce because they refuse to comply with the treatment for the amount of time needed for their brain to start functioning again.
And involuntary care ain't going to happen due to them not being an acute threat to themselves.

Also, they usually are in a state of cognitive dissonance where they know that they will die or end up with irreversible damage if they continue their behaviour, but they can't feel it, but they sure feel the anxiety of going through treatment.

Not to mention that most of the severe cases thinks that they will lose their identity if they recover, because they've been sick for so long that they have few friends, no romantic relationships, no hobbies, no job, they don't even have a relationship with their parents outside of being sick.

Her “no negative comments” shit cracks me up. Heaven forbid she just not post selfies showing off her Supreme Ana-Chan final boss body. She starved herself so everyone could marvel at her anorexic supremacy. If no one can see her, there’s no point.
