Again, there are plenty of people working in comics right now that are worse at both writing and art than Dobson. They're even allowed to put in direct references to their social politics. They get a ton of freedom in nearly every category. I don't get it; Dobson could just be working on a 3rd rate comic company by the end of the year if he tried...

Dobson doesn't make art unless he's paid because he thinks he's one of those famous artists whose time is worth money and puts so much work into his pieces that he shouldn't pick up a pen unless he's paid.
 
I dunno @Gensdupays, he might work really, really hard to make his art look this terrible. It might be an actively difficult process to fuck up this badly, as if his inner artistic talent (wherever it may be) is struggling against him, fighting back and trying to actually create a worthwhile piece. :P
Operating under this theory, though, I think we all know who won.

It's so hard to even tell what's going on in this, especially with how Stitch's hands I don't even know if they're supposed to behind or next to the other character he drew. What a mess.
 
Anyone else notice his recent affinity to backgrounds which are plain vector stripes radiating from the characters? That's somehow lazier than a gradient/plain background - almost like it's his elementary idea of 'emphasizing' his characters.

I think it'd be more appropriate to just send him to his room and throw away the key and his computer.

Also, last I checked, Rocket didn't have pink gloves. Or gloves at all if we're talking about the current version.

Simple answer for why it won't work: Dobbo hates being told what to do at all and he regularly misses and bitches about deadlines. You can also say his pride prevents him from wanting to work in the smaller companies too; he'd gun straight for Marvel/DC for instance, and would shun Archie, IDW, and any of the lower tier companies. Even with his declining anatomy skills, he could possibly make second tier stuff if he could only deal with these three issues. But he won't, because fuck criticism: he do what he want.

Dobson could get gigs, but the fact he cuts corners with his art and doesn't go to cons and does not have a favorable reputation has hindered him. You don't hear of him going to PaxEast, The local cons, even going to groups to improve his art.

The big thing is his work might have gotten him somewhere, but he has proven to be a liability, webcomic or not.
