War Three examples of toxic "leadership" by US Air Force generals

One lost a star when he retired. Unbelievably, the other two officers are still on active duty, one having just put on her first star. The vast majority of generals I have known/interacted with ran from good to great. I have known of a few generals who could be rough on certain people. One had a tremendous hard-on for colonels. They never bothered junior officers like me as long as we saluted their official cars when they were driving by. But what the star-wearers - not generals - in these stories did to people, especially their own staffs, is way beyond the pale. Mistreating your executive officer is beyond stupid. I fear the two female star-wearers are being kept on active duty for political reasons only. And they will continue to destroy their subordinates' morale through toxic leadership.

Believe if these star-wearers put the same effort into their jobs that they put into fucking with their people, they could accomplish much more. Good leaders spend time taking care of their people, not fucking with them. Not rocket science.

Talking to mil friends, the US Air Force is known for its culture of being god-awful and terrible to work with. I've asked people in every other branch what branch they liked and hated working with. They differed on who they preferred working with but they all consistently hated working with airmen.
Even airmen hate working with other airmen if you ask those who actually do plane stuff.

Most people seem to like working with Marines and Coast Guard anecdotally.
 
I interviewed at a unit once and every single person who saw me said "Hey, you seem cool. You probably wouldn't like it here. I'd pay for your school uh, any other way." If you're one of the standouts that's normal and sane, you'll have some commisar come down on you from above to 'straighten' you out. It's the most PC experiment tank for the government. Don't know how it still has the all american brand ideology, so many people get out and forget that after they leave it keeps on evolvin'.
 
Reminds me of the ongoing Canadian drama with Governor General Julie Payette, a female ex-astronaut, who allegedly also created a toxic and hostile work environment (in addition to wasting public money, screwing with her security detail, etc). It's approaching the point where Trudeau might have to ask the Queen to sack her, as the Governor General is technically the Canadian head of state, and is not directly accountable to the Prime Minister.

In a lot of these cases it seems like the Peter principle in action, where someone who is reasonably skilled at their trade (logistics, flying a plane, whatever) is rapidly promoted up the management chain despite their lack of leadership skills. Throw in affirmative action and demands for more women in high-level positions, and the inevitable result is going to be more highly visible fuckups by these diversity hires who were promoted well beyond their competence.
 
It's only going to keep getting worse. The whole drama with First Sergeant Moerk was kind of the canary in the coal mine for the new military toxic leadership bullshit working its way all the way up to the top.
 
I wish I could find the article again but it was from an officer getting out kind of detailing how the officer corps works in the Air Force. It basically boils down to being a "chosen one" by a general. From then on if your chosen you can never fail because it will make the "General" look bad no matter what. Just makes it hell for everyone else since the "chosen one" never has to worry about any heavy discipline for fucking up.

Levy retired, but lost a star in the process. US officers retire at the last rank held successfully. It was determined Levy last held major general (two-star) rank successfully. Costs him money. Unfortunately, he wouldn't have been court-martialed. No USAF general has ever been court-martialed. Instead, they retire, sometimes at a lower rank.
 
The WORST fucking officers I ever worked with were all Air Force (Barring that faggot out of TRADOC and that one fucking weirdo West German officer who cranked his meat all over my porn mag and threw it in my inbox. God, he was a fucking lunatic) when it came down to it.

I mean, I had a fucking General I had to deal with who would bitch and moan over the fact it was a designated mandatory mask carry area, but even his shit wasn't as bad as the Air Force.

And I'm gonna come right out and say it. Nobody else will, but I'll fucking say it.

Female officers are the fucking WORST to deal with. Most of them are physically abusive (grab you by the back of the neck and dig their fucking talons into your fucking arteries) and verbally abusive (worse than a Warrant with a mad-on) to the point where you're wondering if you shut her fucking mouth with a good right cross if you'll go to jail, and then strap on the incompetence? Oh, for fuck's sake.

Most of them tried to treat enlisted and NCO's like their children, both in the way they spoke to them and for punishment and treatment. They always have "ideas" they want you to implement about how to make shit look pretty. Bitch, I'm here to work, not polish your ass with my tongue. They love to take over well running, high profile operations and then just run them into the ground and leave the next motherfucker to deal with the smoking wreckage while they point at the dumpster fire they created out of a perfectly running operation and go "Well, at least everyone was warm!"

Bitch, I've been running this site for two years, I don't need your low rent ass coming up here with baggy knees on your uniform and yammering your cum-catcher in my face about how the site needs to be run.

And Special Access Project was a dumpster fire even in the 80's. But for a different reason. Mainly, them motherfuckers wouldn't tell you shit.

I can't imagine how this shit gets run nowadays with everyone building little kingdoms and shit and looking at it more as a resume polisher than an actual job.

One of the most petty things I've ever seen a female officer do, which the two male officers just looked at each other, looked at us, and shrugged, had to be during WINTEX.

Dude gets in late, only MRE is cat-shit and rice, and he just goes "Man, fuck you guys for taking the good ones."

She walked up, grabbed his food, and told him if he didn't like it he could just fucking starve.

I ended up getting into it with her because who the fuck was she to fucking try that shit.

She literally ordered me to go stand at attention in the corner.

Yeah, I told her to take that shit to the Colonel because nobody was doing shit she said at the site any more. Of course, I couldn't keep my mouth shut and drove her into a total rage.

"Know the difference between me and you, ma'am? I've been in three years to your six months and the Army's promoted me three times."

Fucking female officers are the goddamn worst.

Yup, if you are going to become a USAF general you need a "sponsor" who is a general. You can make it to colonel without such a "sponsor", but no higher. Those officers who have "sponsors" are protected, unless they do something really bad, or somehow piss off their "sponsor". Do a shit job as a commander? Send him/her to the Pentagon or a major command headquarters staff, send him/her to a senior service school.

Only know one guy picked for a star who didn't get it. Nomination was held up while an allegation was being investigated. Dude was found innocent. By the time the decision was made his nomination for the star had expired. Dude said "fuck it" and retired as a colonel.

Yea I got the "Fuck it" vibe from the guy doing the article. The officer corps is really weird, especially in situations where someone can hurt a bunch of people. Like the Fairchild B-52 Crash had numerous red flags before that event happened yet nothing was really done other than "only the commander can fly with him" . So Arthur Holland thought he was a fighter pilot killed 3 other people, one of them in front of his family because it was his Fini flight.

I mean part of me is just fucking agog at the fact that her XO climbed under their desk to cry.

Is there no pride left in the service? Is there no self respect left?

I mean, sure, me and the troops I hung out with were knuckle dragging thugs, but I don't think anyone would have crawled under a desk to hide from a verbal tirade. Hell, if your Chief Warrant didn't call you a half dozen racial slurs, insult your parentage, and threaten to have you eaten by wild dogs then it was probably an imposter or some kind of secret code.

ON the gripping hand, I've met a LOT of Air Force when I was in that just seemed to have no spine unless they were talking to someone lower ranking and then they tried to be abusive shits, but that's what you expected from the Air Corps. (Cry all you want, you're still nothing but a jumped up Army unit with faggoty rituals)
