But that's also kind of my point. If we are to look to defending "right wing" stances, we need to define what is and what isn't right wing. Why is Fascism right wing? What the fuck is based about the Fascist Manifesto? When is it gay commie left-wing socialism and when is it manly nationalist right-wing socialism?
Shit is so convoluted and poorly defined that you need to understand what you're defending before you defend it.

The only unbased thing about Fascism is that it's a materialist ideology that doesn't believe in higher authority and objective moral values and duties. That's very much a Modernist and Liberal position to hold, which ultimately can dehumanize people. That said, preserving traditions, honoring your people and nation, and valuing the masses of society over a handful of parasitic bankers are all right-wing values.

The far left and right want the same thing: homogeneity. Everyone else wants a system that lets people who disagree all get along, to at least some degree. The Dems recent hubris is to think they no longer have to get along with Republicians because "demographics", just like the republicians acted in the Bush era.

Since the political compass goes from “communist” to “capitalist”, and the other axis goes “authoritarian” to “anarchist”, I’d explain it like this:

Left: believes the state should guarantee personal economic security
Right: believes the person should guarantee personal economic security

Authoritarian: thinks some individuals are more capable of government than others
Anarchist: thinks no individuals are more capable of government than others
