The thing is, Reade didn't just come out with this out of nowhere in the last couple months. She apparently went to the AP and gave an interview on her allegations against Biden last year, which they didn't follow up on or save the recordings of. Whether this was truly standard practice as they claimed or something they did that just happened to be convenient to the Biden campaign is left for you to determine. It's definitely possible.
But it's also possible that it was really just some minor "unwanted hand on shoulder" type of thing, and that she's now opportunistically upgrading it to finger rape.
The harassment complaint and the corroborations by her mother/neighbor/etc. don't contradict this, I think.
The one thing we know for sure, is that #MeToo and #BelieveWomen have exposed themselves as absolute hypocrites.
If you'll allow me a somewhat cynical perspective:
In order to hurt Biden, it would have been more convenient to come forward earlier, when all the other Dem nominees were still in the race. (This may well have pushed Biden out of the race, as the other candidates wouldn't have immediately taken his side as they do now.)
Or if the motivation was to hurt Democrats and not only Biden, it would have been most convenient later in the year, when there's not enough time left for people to forget it or "tire of hearing about it" before the election (which is what will likely happen now).
It goes to show the difference between Reade's approch (go public all by yourself and hope the media will listen to you), and Ford's approach (secretly shop your story to the opposing political party, and have their operatives coach you and scrub your social media and get an opsec/research head-start for weeks, before they come out with it in the form of a well-timed and coordinated hit job against the accused).
Add onto that the friends she told about the incident over the years who have vouched for her story, the tape of her mother calling into Larry King Live back in 1993 (that CNN conveniently attempted to pull from the internet), and her willingness to risk perjury charges, and it doesn't seem like the actions of someone who's lying. The timing could be brought into question, but I could see her being concerned over further retaliation at the time, only deciding to come forward now that the climate is more receptive. There could certainly be a political factor to coming forward now, and I can't say for certain whether she'd bring it up if Biden weren't running for president. Considering that she's not the only one, and considering the huge number of pictures and videos of Biden being touchy-feely with random women and girls, it seems that even if she didn't come forward, someone else would have.
However, if Biden's innocent, he has a very easy out: get the University of Delaware to release his files. Reade claimed she filed an official incident report at the time, a report that she further claimed she was fired over in retaliation. If this is true, it should be somewhere in those files. But the university is refusing to release them until "two years after he leaves public office," which honestly should have been about a year ago since he hasn't been doing jack since Obama left. If he has nothing to hide, then he should let everyone take a look. Instead, he's making flat denials in softball interviews that refuse to press him on the issue, when he's actually coherent enough to respond anyway.
And as others have pointed out, that's the key takeaway here. At this point, it matters less whether he did it and more that the media is refusing to hold to the same standards that they crucified Kavanaugh over. They reported constantly and uncritically on Christine Blasey Ford's allegations, ignoring that her story was changing constantly, nobody could corroborate her claims, and she was flat-out lying on various aspects like a fear of flying. Yet someone comes forward with sexual assault allegations against Joe Biden, backed up by evidence that should at least warrant more investigation, and there's nary a peep. Or in the case of fucking psychopaths like Lisa Bloom up there, a stark admission that they frankly don't give a damn, because nothing is more important to them than defeating the Bad Orange Man.
But of course, we've seen this plenty of times before, so it should come as no surprise that the media continues to run interference for Democrats. All I ask is they give this the same level of scrutiny that they did the Kavanaugh allegations, although by that I really mean actually investigate, not just repeat verbatim and ignore anything inconvenient to the narrative. They won't do that, and that's what's truly sickening about this whole mess. #BelieveAllWomen, except when they're accusing a Democrat, I guess.
