Then again it had already run out of steam. It caught far more left-wing figures than right-wing and had already had a lot of high profile celebs blurting "Um akchewyuhlee don't believe women when they accuse me or someone I like". They probably figured it was about time to put it down anyway, they'll go back to far less centralized campaigns.
 
There's something interesting going on with WaPo this morning. Normally it's histrionic Trump this and Trump that. It's blatantly biased. However, at this moment, only two headlines have Trump's name. There's not much direct mention of him.

Have they received new marching orders?

This actually does scares me a bit though. There's already reports that a bunch of meat processing plants now have no choice but to dispose of the meat that they have over fears of coronvirus contamination and because a lot of them were shut down over the lockdowns.

It's meat today and it count be grains, fruits, and vegetables tomorrow.

And the thing is that pandemics don't just 'go away', they usually come in waves until they are truly gone.

The last recorded major pandemic in human history was the '1918 Spanish Flu pandemic' and if you know your history it was horrible. The first wave of the Spanish Flu pandemic happened in the early part of 1918 and the second wave would appear later on in 1918 but it's the second wave that would be the most destructive as it was the second wave that caused the most deaths. The 1918 Spanish Flu pandemic would then later on finally come to an end in the Spring of 1919 with a short lived third wave.

Now with the Summer season coming up the sun may finally put an end to the first wave of this disaster with the intense heat holding off the virus for the moment. But it begs the question, will we see a devastating second wave happen in the Autumn and Winter months ahead? Now I hope I'm wrong on this but if the worst case scenario does happen then be prepared for anything and people do go crazy when there is less to eat on the table.

Not to mention that ranchers and farmers dumping stock because no one is able to buy it, transport it, process it, or even store it. Dairy products are being dumped en masse and a bunch of counties are refusing to export grains and other food products. I can only imagine what the realization will be when the people realize that food exports/relief are the only reasons megacities, large swathes of Africa, and people living in otherwise inhospitable land are able to survive. Some people are estimating one of the worst famines in history from this. Yet they still dont realize that in America the heartland and fly over states will be able to provide the food and oil necessary. Assuming that we don't send a large part of our food production to places like africa and Israel.

unless corona survives cooking the meat where's the issue? if you eat raw meat you got bigger problems and corona should be the last of your worries.

Spanish Flu was a confluence of many factors. (and was likely a significant contributor to the Central Powers defeat in WWI, as they were disproportionately affected)

There are two things from Spanish Flu that should be staggering:
- It is estimated the Spanish Flu killed about 5% of the global population
-The incredible ammount of chaos caused by the loss of 5% of the population. Entire towns, and in some cases entire cultures, ceased to exist as everything ground to a halt for 2-3 weeks and many people survived the illness but not the aftermath, which can have a higher mortality than the virus itself.


There are two strains of small pox: A highly virulent, less lethal form and a highly lethal, but less virulent form. Europe was wracked by outbreaks of the lethal form constantly until the 1800s.
When the spanish arrived in latin america, the length of the crossing prevented the lethal form from crossing. The less-lethal strain made it over. When the virus made it to the Maya in the 1500s, the primary cause of death was not the virus - it was starvation or dehydration as the sick were laid up for two weeks and most people/villages did not have two-plus weeks stock of food/water on hand. You got sick, and might recover or be able to recover, but you were too weak to be able to get food or even water for yourself and would then die of a secondary cause.
Indians in a mission had rather good odds of survival as there were people to take care of them and keep them fed.

Mark Shea is a lot like Rod Dreher, except somehow even less sincere and less intelligent. That's quite a feat. I don't actually believe either one has an ounce of genuine faith and less than zero charity in their heart.
