Objectively, Trump continues to do a shit job. His performance in this epidemic is a disgrace, and it's his personal qualities of extreme egotism, selfishness, and incompetence that outrage so many that have led to this disasterous outcome. You Trump fans like to focus on the foolishness of Trump haters, but at a core level, you know they are right.
The president can't control a lot, but in a situation like this, leadership at the highest level makes a huge difference.
When it counted, Trump strikes out, and needless disaster and death follow.
Trump has always been able to skate by on his many life failures by using other peoples money and screwing over those he can blame. Not this time, sadly for US.
He is pathetic, following his usual playbook of looking for scapegoats. Demanding his signature goes on the treasury checks, FFS...
Please enlighten us as to what he should have done. From what I've seen every time he starts acting inevitably your types start screeching about it. Lets run a few examples
1. He cuts off travel to and from china
Media calls him Racist, Who insinuates he is acting rashly, and your types claim he's trying to become a dictator.
2. He talks about a drug that has showed some decent success in other countries and pushing it through the FDA
A lady kills her husband with fish bowl cleaner blames it on trump
Media runs stories that they died taking the drug, for reference this be like giving you're husband battery acid because it contains H2O and the media claiming he died via water poisoning.
Neveda and Michigan ban the drug
3. He starts pushing through a stimulus bill to get Americans money and keep companies from collapsing
The dems delay the bill to fill it with as much pork as possible, highlights being a couple hundred million to the arts and hiring requirements based off of race.
Republicans have to sift through the additions to the bill and only cut out the most cancerous aspects because the dems won't get it passed unless they have pork in it.
After it is passed Dem's immediately claim ownership of bill and try to say republicans delayed it.
Trump demands his signature to remind people that he was responsible for this and not the people that tried to delay it.
4. He set's up a task force in January to start working on how Corona will affect us.
He is derided for fear mongering, and has multiple articles published about how this task force isn't diverse enough, They are still doing this shit to this day.
5. The man has multiple press conferences with update of how we are dealing with corona
Media and you're type spend hours claiming he is lying and are upset that he doesn't just read off headlines.
Now all that aside the man has been called an authoritarian since he became president and now he is forced to either commit authoritarian acts in the name of saving lives only to have states ignore him and do everything they can to counteract what he's done or he can let the states lead themselves. It's kind of a lose lose situation since he's been the scapegoat for pretty much everything since he got into office and any death has been blamed on him.
Now we'll ignore the lies peddled that he cut funding to the CDC, He expanded it, He cut an emergency task force, They left and he merged three redundant groups together, and that a majority of the deaths are either homeless or have severe pre existing conditions, the bodies are unclaimed or have died with corona. Let's just look at other countries and realize that their media hasn't spent the 24/7 news cycle trying to get rid of their leader and that we don't have multiple dems on tape claiming they would throw us into a recession to get rid of trump.
That being said he hasn't been perfect and we should have shut the borders earlier but at the same time the man went through impeachment trials because he asked a favor from an ally and you fucking think his opponents would of let him do anything extreme to keep us safe.
