🐱 Dr. Drew goes full copyright lolcow

CatParty

Someone with the handle @DroopsDr posted a supercutof celebrity doctor Drew Pinsky downplaying the severity of the coronavirus epidemic ("way less serious than influenza") and then later claiming that he had always taken it seriously ("We predicted from the beginning that this was going to be worse than the flu.")

Dr. Drew contacted YouTube and made them remove the video, citing copyright.

Then Dr. Drew went after people on Twitter who retweeted the video, with the warning: "Infringing copywrite [sic] laws is a crime. Hang on to your retweets. Or erase to be safe."

Ars Technica reports that lawyers jumped into let people know they could safely retweet the video:

[Preet] Bharara, a former US attorney, and Boutrous, a high-profile attorney, were among the many who replied to defend or amplify Ali. “
You are safe from any 'copywrite' lawsuit, @yashar," Bharara tweeted. "Know your writes."

"Truth and fair use got you," Boutrous added in a tweet that quoted Pinsky's now-deleted threat.

It appears that either Pinsky or YouTube was inclined to agree. Sometime around noon Monday, give or take an hour, the YouTube video listing very quietly started working once again. Similarly, every message on Pinsky's @drdrew Twitter account relating to the video has been deleted.

On April 4 Dr. Drew gave a qualification-riddled apology for misleading people about the severity of the virus.

Luckily @MediocreMilt archived it in the mega thread.

Perhaps a "Batty" rating?

And to think I was worrying they'd inadvertently receive some patients who'd tested false negative. Like before thinking about malice/idiocy I honestly thought the incubation period was what would fuck those ships up. SMH

Dr. Drew has been trying to scrub this evidence of his smug "just a flu" statements from the internetz. Enjoy:

Dr. Drew has always been a joke and an ass kisser. He doesn’t have any real convictions either, not just with this. For example, he changed his opinion on weed not because of any study but because he caught too much shit from other celebrities and was afraid he wouldn’t be considered cool to them.

How did some MTV sex therapist talk show host get taken seriously speaking about viral infections anyway? How far down the list of credible sources on COVID-19 did they go before they got to Drew?

He still does podcasts with Adam Carolla, another has been from a generation ago. They both try really hard to pretend it’s the glory days of Loveline. Drew of course ignores, downplays or has selective memories of his years of his rehab programs because too many of his celebrity guests died after relapses. Whoops!
Addicts die, it's why addiction is bad Mmkay.

I saw a promoted video last week on youtube where Dr. Oz was talking about wuflu. All the sham celebrity doctors are getting in on it. Does anyone know if Dr. Phil has commented on it?

I was always confused as to how he became a recovery therapist. Did ANYONE stay sober on that damn show?

Didn't he do a show about the toilet seat licker?

Didn't he do a show about the toilet seat licker?

Da.

It's not the first time that bitch had been on that bald, condescending worthless lying asshole's show either. There's a symbiotic tard-lationship there. One needs controversial clownshows to keep his show getting ratings, and one has a broken need for "fame" that acting out on a national television show would bring. It's a toxic cycle.

Why is an attorney using 'write(s)' incorrectly twice?

Because they were making fun of Dr. Drew, who did it first.
