This right there is the reason why the movement was never going anywhere.
When your ideas are unpopular with most of the electorate, your only path towards victory is through reasonable debate. To attempt to bring people to your side. That, obviously, doesn't work if half your members spend their time cussing out anyone who disagrees with them on anything.
The Berniebros can blame themselves for creating their own opposition, which I'd wager is mostly composed of people who got tired of getting demeaned and talked down to. Sounds familiar?

The failure of the modern left comes from their decision to turn their politics into a dogma, and their members into fanatics. I'm sure it sounded great on paper, but it turns out you can't reach compromises with ideologically possessed extremists. And if someone isn't even willing to consider your position honestly, why work with them at all?
