The realistic settlement for funi is doing a public apology, say they fucked up the investigation, they already have fired the person who made the tweet, and offer a few thousand. I don't think they'll fire Monica, Jamie and sabat or lose dubbing rights tho, but a retraction and a few grand is most realistic. The worse I see is either Monica and Chris quitting and going to another dubbing studio to infect.

They may know what they wrote, but they would, at the very least, need to familiarize themselves with how the CR is organized, which was up to the clerk. Maybe that's a poor excuse, though, seeing as Vic's team was able to produce their brief already. Maybe the other side is going to try to produce something autistic again and needs extra time to sort it out. Maybe they're desperately searching for something that might save them. I dunno.
I figure you'd need something pretty egregious to get them to take such an action, if they even can. They wouldn't want to risk punishing someone who genuinely deserves justice merely because their filings or the case itself look annoying.

Depends on how interested Sony and how involved their money is. If Sony just wants to punish money coming out of their pockets for stupid shit, they might fire them.

Which is why I think Vic would settle for very clear retractions and possibly a nominal dollar amount and not require any punitive firings or dollar amounts
Even if this goes away "for free" under the tcpa, court and lawyers are a huge pain in the ass and a huge time sink for the average person. Not making this go away with something as simple as "you know what everyone? I shouldn't have said that. I don't like Vic, but he's not a sex offender" is bizarre.

Pretty sure this doesn't apply to MoRon and Marchi, they have to file their own, though pretty sure MoRon are kind of screwed a little on the extension request till later in next month? Considering they have just made the request recently.

MoRon and Marchi have until 10 March to file their response to the appeal brief. The extension for FUNimation only applies to them, and the extension to file the cross-appeal brief only applies to that, not to MoRon's appeal reply. I really hope they fuck it up and don't file a reply, because I'd love to see Ty and crew say, "No, we're opposing this since you also missed your cross-appeal deadline by two weeks and we gave you a freebie."

I don't think it ever got off the ground.
Clearly, Pridemore is still willing to trash Todd.
If there was a settlement, it didn't involve her recanting what she said.

Or he just didn't pursue it as she has no money,like all of the other speds, so nothing to gain and it didn't really harm him as much as Vics shit harmed Vic.

Pridemore is a nobody, so anything she could say is not damaging, specially after the texts came out and she had to shut up after that.
One thing to remember is that for defamation you need some damage to occur, I mean there may be psycologycal damage by having sex with Pridemore but that doesn't matter for defamation, that is why nobody from the zoo (Orangutan Armz gurl, Whale and any other parasite like those) were charged, their opinions were so worthless that no person cared what they said, the other ones have pull in the industry or are in a closet gay relationship with Sabat, so their opinion actually caused damages.

The alternative theory I had was "the merger has changed the politics of this lawsuit." Aniplex has been designated as Funimations tard Wrangler and doesn't want a lawsuit bogging their balance sheet so they are trying to figure out how to get out of this.
Dragging it out seems more likely.

I think you might be overthinking this. Vic's counsel already asked for an extension (technically two), so Funi really has no reason not to ask for one. And if they plan on stalling things out for years, asking for an extension of a few weeks is hardly the most effective way to go about it.
My guess would either be it's some gamesmanship (you asked for one, so we'll ask for one too); or it may simply be the same reason Martinez Hsu asked for one, to get everything looking as good as possible.
