Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

Did a lot of people have bad encounters with the Religious Right if they still being brought up? The entertainment industry having a lot of gay people seems to be a huge factor.
I stopped giving a fuck about the Religious Right sometime in 2010 or so when they became an almost total nonentity.

Professional internet comedian and San Francisco resident Seanbaby is on a roll with his TDS and "right-wingers bad" shtick.

Like this amazingly fedora-tipping article made years after the Religious Right lost any relevance, with TDS just oozing from under the surface, where Seanbaby ironically states that:

And admits that:

And opines that:

It's amazing how so many otherwise decent people have turned into glorified Moviebob clones because REEEEEEE DONALD DRUMPF.

Seanbaby used to be great. I miss old Cracked :(

I still don't get how people could be somewhat funny once in a while when they REEEE'd about Bush 2 but with Trump it's all humorless doom and gloom along with the same tired jokes time after time now.

Maybe cause the criticism of Bush 2 was slightly more valid?

Bush 43 was a lot cozier with the Religious Right than Trump will ever be. Trump has shown the GOP how to win.

Yes, I say this despite Trump speaking at the March for Life. CNN going full retard against Nick Sandmann may have been a reason for this.

Part of me wonders if it wasn't losing Jon Stewart running the Daily Show as well (or maybe even cause he wouldn't play the Hillary crews game), the dumb woke shit seemed to amplify a lot once Trevor Noah took over and the quality went downhill so much that I quit even paying attention to it.

After reading some of the latest stuff in this thread, parody and reality are blurring into nonexistence:

Seriously, I know the above is supposed to be satire, but considering how the Democrats are acting right now, and I'd swear they were serious.

It's sort of like all the nerds who have a deep, seething hatred of all jocks even if they were never actually picked on by jocks. They've been told they're natural enemies for so long that they've convinced themselves they've been persecuted and oppressed by the opposite (and obviously inferior) side even if they've had effectively zero encounters with them. It's the same for a ton of groups in identity politics, the Other is your enemy so clearly they've fucked you over again and again and again, even if you can't actually remember when this occurred.

Not sure how that equates to the neutral definition of dictatorship, with one person ruling over, unelected by the masses.
I don't get it either. Like you said, he doesn't have absolute power. He doesn't do anything a dictator usually does. The closest thing this country had to a dictator was FDR:

Reality doesn't jibe well with Democratic fantasies.

Bush 2 fed their ego. He was what a Republican was supposed to be: A simian hick that exists to remind all the cool people how much better they are. Looking down their nose at him and telling themselves that his inferiority proved their quality was cultural bedrock to every Democrat old enough to remember 9/11.

After 16 years of nurturing their vanity, a lot of people built Trump's Certain Defeat up into a symbolic rejection of everything they didn't like about America, then they had to watch their entire worldview shatter in a single evening. I think the election hit a lot of these people harder on a much more personal level than the 9/11 attacks, and they may never really recover from the shock.

This is... more accurate than even you may realize.

The left has won. The left -had- won.
Decades of uninterrupted success, through the civil rights movements, through the Vietnam war, through the efforts for gay rights. On the cultural front, they had been winning for half a century. And their opponents? A broken collection of libertarians, stock republicans, RINOS, and evangelicals. Requiring this opposition to kow tow to a specific set of requirements to have any chance of win.

Clinton got in office, all was good, the idiot republicans tried to do an impeachment proceeding that SLAMMED them in the 1998 election, which saw the Presidents party for the first time gaining seats.

Then Bush won, in an absolutely razor tight election, and likely only because his opponent had the charisma of cardboard. Every democrat and their mother agreed, if such a terrible candidate could almost win and even win the popular vote, then any democrat going forward has to win. And sure, Bush won a second a term, but he was coasting on the events of 9/11.Everything was set... and everything worked well.

Obama won, they had massive majorities. Obviously, they were right. At this point, fill in what you yourself said. Fill in the massive idea of how they simply are the best, how all republicans are evil and stupid, and now we get to 2016.

Trump did something they never thought was possible. He united the right into a far more cohesive faction. The evangelicals had died down, but still had their beliefs and those beliefs were under threat firm the democrats. The Libertarians had seen what happens when Democrats had rule and were willing to throw themselves behind the republican regardless. The stock republicans were similarly incensed. And the RINOS, while liking the status quo, also wanted power that a republican in office would provide. For the first time in 50 years the Republican base was at peace with itself and could -fight-.

And that is when the Democrats learned something.

The Left... had lost. Not the election, yet, but lost the knowledge of HOW to fight the culture war. HOW to fight an energized opponent. 50 years of winning by default and their only losses being due to weak candidates and calamitous events. 50 years of any and all serious opposition being hamstrung from the start. 50 year, and their ability to fight had utterly atrophied.

The shock they received wasn't just the worldview crumbling. It was it crumbling AND them realizing, far too late, that they had utterly lost the ability to recreate it. That is far, far more devestating as it is not only losing the cornerstone of your worldview. It is losing it, and knowing you may never be able to reobtain it.

too bad that charlie kirk and the rest of the MAGA krew are more progressive than obama was 12 years ago.
but whatever. "right" and "left" are just relative terms, know what i mean, comrade?

I just spent a full minute trying to parse what the fuck you wrote. I have not met with success.

Did a lot of people have bad encounters with the Religious Right if they still being brought up? The entertainment industry having a lot of gay people seems to be a huge factor.

When I was a tiny tiny little child, the religious right were (probably correctly) mainstream cultures favorite punching bag badguys, while simultaneously having enough power to actually still BE the bad guys if you let them. They hated fun, they hated freedom, they hated music and video games and sex. They hated anything being outside of their control. And they occasionally won a fight here or there to prove they meant what they said.

They were also a joke. They were nervous that a puppet in a children's show being the wrong color would make babies turn gay. They were nervous that letting two dudes hold hands would cause society to collapse. They were nervous that teenagers might be curious about having sex. So they never really had staying power, because anyone who really sat down and thought about the situation realize that super basic ethics meant you can't just dominate someone's entire life just to prevent yourself from becoming uncomfortable. People yearn to be free.

But inside some people there beats the heart of a would-be dictator. Someone who thinks that the way they think is the only way to think. There are people who would gladly ignore your freedom and any basic ethical arguments about justice in favor of making you stop acting, thru any means possible, in a way that they disapprove of. And somewhere along the lines, the little dictators on the religious right either gave up or died off, and almost imperceptibly gave way to the religious left. The same unthinking unfeeling dictators that want to control what you think say or do. The only difference is that they're not doing it for a God with a scripture, they're doing it because they feel like it's correct.

That's why they're constantly attacking each other. They all have different feelings on what's really correct.

But deep down they all also remember a time when it was easy. When the bad guy painted a target on themselves and united in one easy to strike group with one easy to stop goal. And so they still strike out at the ghost of a villain they've already destroyed. The silhouette of a monster that's not there anymore. A monster they're starting to look more and more like the more they thrash at an empty space.

Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.

So, the Super bowl was today, and you had the Bloomberg ads, the ones during the game were bad, but not laugh out loud bad.

However, samwitched between the game and the "masked singer" show, was a short commercial that was so bad I couldn't believe it. The thing is they must have known it too, because I can't find it anywhere.

So if you intrepid autists can find it, I think the thread would love it.

Basically it said that Trump was causing droughts, floods, hurricanes, etc. I wish I could find it, but it hasn't shown up on any of Mike's official campaign Youtube channel, or his twitter.

I did find this though, enjoy:
Obviously Trump made Nazism popular again.

Given Jon is the same guy telling a bunch of people that felt they were losing their country "you don't own America", I would say he'd have been about as bad.

There was also that fucking HiV medication commercial where they flat out said "people who were assigned female at birth..." and I just stared at the screen.

The interesting thing about the left constantly winning is they've won so often they've moved from the checklist that people could go "eh, I guess, nobody's hurting anyone with that..." to where they start wanting to make fucking kids and animals legal, treason is legal, racism is acceptable, and want to force everyone to say mentally ill men who don't even try to pass are women.

And they can't understand the pushback and can only scream racist/sexist/XXXXXXphobe and those words just aren't working any more and they don't understand why.

Things like this are why I've always found the Euphoric Atheist argument that "atheism is the natural state of humans" laughable. They're basically trying to argue that because you don't come out of the womb shouting "Praise Jesus!" that it's a normal state of being for humans to not worship gods or create religions, as if those were some sort of aberrations that cropped up by chance and trickery one day. When the truth is that if you look at history, the natural state of humans is not just religion, but polytheism... it's actually the monotheistic religions that dominate the modern day that are something of an aberration.

You're right to call them the Religious Left because they've built their own little religion with a hundred gods, and they generally like to call this religion the Social Contract, or perhaps The Right Side of History depending on which denomination you're talking to. It's filled with gods like Diversity, Gun Control, Socialism, Single-Payer Healthcare, Open Borders, Federal Empowerment... things that are treated as an unspoken equivalent to holiness, even if the less "theologically" educated of the worshipers can't say why. And its Adversary, the Conservatives... now led by the greatest Satan ever put into scripture, Donald Trump, wielding his twitter account from his throne of minority skulls at Hell-a-lago.

Speaking of Bloomberg, I'm getting sick an tired of seeing his campaign ads every time I'm watching Hulu. Bloomberg knows he's not getting his ass elected, but sure as hell going to screw his party because of it.
Bloomberg's there partly to ensure that the DNC is brokered and partly to try and bloody Trump's nose.
