War Nolte: CNN Segment Ridicules Trump Supporters as Illiterate ‘Rubes’ - Looks like they never learned from the Basket of Deplorables and the 47 percenters, Also someone please open a thread on who the fuck is Eugene MD

In the form of Don Lemon, Rick Wilson, and Wajahat Ali, the unholy trinity of CNN, the New York Times, and Never Trump got together Saturday to mock Trump supporters as illiterate rubes.

At first, the only thing notable about the segment was how so much failure was able to fit on a single TV screen. Don Lemon is one of the lowest rated anchors in all of cable news. Never Trumper Rick Wilson is the far-left media’s trained pet. The New York Times Wajahat Ali is — okay, I don’t know who that is.

Anyway, it was Saturday night on CNN, so these three probably figured no one is watching anyway, so why the hell not…

We join the trio in their favorite position: besides themselves with outrage, this time over the fact Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stood up for himself against the welfare queens over at NPR. Pompeo asked one of the welfare queen’s fake reporters if she could find Ukraine on a map, and this is where our story begins…

DON LEMON: [The NPR reporter] has a master’s degree in European studies from Cambridge University. Also, [Pompeo] doesn’t really say that she couldn’t identify Ukraine on a map, he insinuates it’s just a — it’s just a petty attempt to put her down, right? Is that what this is?

RICK WILSON: Of course, of course. [Pompeo’s] just trying to demean her, and obviously, it’s false. And, look, he also knows, deep in his heart, that Donald Trump couldn’t find Ukraine on a map if you had the letter “U” and a picture of an actual physical crane next to it. [Pompeo] knows this is an administration defined by ignorance of the world, and so that’s partly him playing to their base and playing to their audience, you know, the credulous boomer rube demo that backs Donald Trump — that wants to think that [does Trump supporter impersonation with southern accent] ‘Donald Trump’s the smart one, and y’all – y’all elitists are dumb!'”

WAJAHAT ALI: [Trump supporter impersonation] You elitists with your geography and your maps and your spelling!

WILSON: [southern impersonation] Your math and your reading!

ALI: [impersonation] Yeah, your reading, you know, your geography, knowing other countries, sipping your latte!

WILSON: [southern impersonation] All those lines on the map!

ALI: [impersonation] Only them elitists know where Ukraine is! Sorry, I apologize.

LEMON: [wiping tears, laughing] Oh, my God!

ALI: But it was Rick’s fault. I blame Rick. But, in all honesty —

LEMON: Hold on — hold on — hold on. That was good, sorry. Rick, that was a good one — I needed that.

These elites hate us.

Hate.

Us.

And as you can see, CNN is proud of this moment.

But I’ll bet CNN is still baffled over the fact it can’t attract even a million viewers while the president of the United States is on trial.

The other thing to remember is that, if given the chance, these people will commit violence against us.

This is the same Rick Wilson, the same Gollum-in-Glasses, who called on the GOP elite to “put a bullet in Donald Trump,” who asked Ann Coulter if Trump pays her extra for “anal” sex, who calls for lynchings of the “fascists” who fail to see the eternal wisdom of Rick Wilson.

And this is the same Don Lemon who has been credibly accused of sexual misconduct, who openly defends the actions of the left-wing terrorist group Antifa, and who defended the physical harassment of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and his wife.

Primarily, though, this sorry event is the result of elite frustration over the impeachment hoax imploding, Trump’s ongoing roll of successes, and the increase in Trump’s approval numbers. The more the elite fail, the more Trump succeeds, and the more Trump’s success proves how wrong they were and are about everything — from policy to Trump’s competence — the more their hate and bigotry is revealed.

In many ways, the Don Lemons, Rick Wilsons, and Wajahat Alis remind me of the resistance in the Deep South against the civil rights movement. I’m talking about the segregationist Democrats in the Deep South who declared themselves the Resistance, and who became more hateful, openly bigoted, and violent as the Civil Rights movement challenged their power and exposed them for who they really are.

Whether it’s the Deep South in the 50s and 60s, or America today, when Democrats like Lemon, Ali, and Wilson feel their power threatened, feel themselves exposed, they get uglier and uglier.

Conservatives criticized CNN, host Don Lemon and two guests on his show after a clip from Saturday showing a panel mocking President Donald Trump’s supporters went viral.

Lemon, political consultant Rick Wilson and New York Times op-ed writer Wajahat Ali began to mock a group of Trump’s supporters during the segment. Wilson called them the “boomer rube” demographic and then began to fake a Southern accent as the others joined in. Lemon had to pause the segment as he tried to regain control of his laughter.

Conservatives began to respond to the clip, which went viral Monday, expressing their disgust. President Donald Trump chimed in, calling Lemon “the dumbest man on television.”

“The arrogance, mocking accents and smug ridicule of this nation’s ‘Real Elites’ is disgusting,” Ivanka Trump wrote.

White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham also chimed in, denouncing the video. She asked if the outlet would issue an apology. Grisham pointed out that this was an example of why “trust in our media is at an all time low.”

“Wondering if @cnn is going to acknowledge (apologize) for this arrogant & divisive view of our country. There’s a reason trust in our media is at an all time low,” Grisham tweeted Tuesday morning.

Republican California Rep. Devin Nunes decided to let the clip do the talking, writing “Here’s what @CNN thinks of Trump voters.” Republican Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn added that CNN is ignorant and “will have you believe we’re all illiterate deplorables.”

“Bless their hearts,” Blackburn tweeted.

Former Republican Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee wrote that the panelists should laugh now, because they “won’t look so smug” on election night.

Meanwhile, both Wilson and Ali spent hours defending their comments following the clip going viral. Wilson posted screenshots of various hate mail messages while continuing to attack conservatives who called him out for the segment. Ali had multiple tweets thanking people and outlets for making the clip go viral. He also attacked those who commented on the segment.

“Thank you for sharing our clip,” Ali tweeted at Trump. “Can you please release your school transcripts that will show you’re a very stable genius? Also, can you release your taxes and the full transcript of your ‘beautiful’ phone call with Zelensky? Also, can you locate Bangladesh on a map? #BeBest.”

The clip was spotted by former CNN digital producer Steve Krakauer, who blasted the panel.

"The arrogance, the dismissiveness, the smug cackling, the accents," Krakauer reacted. "If Donald Trump wins re-election this year, I’ll remember this brief CNN segment late one Saturday night in January as the perfect encapsulation for why it happened."

Trump knocked Lemon, who he called "the dumbest man on television" as well as his "terrible ratings."

Several members of the Trump campaign slammed the liberal network for mocking the president's supporters.

"Deplorables. This Deplorable is ready," Trump campaign director Brad Parscale shot back with a flexing arm emoji.

"This is a real segment from an actual program on a cable news network that asks to be taken seriously. Not subtle message to huge parts of America: THEY HATE YOU," Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh wrote.

"The media hardly ever hides their contempt for @realDonaldTrump supporters but this clip is featuring CNN’s @donlemon, The New York Times’ @WajahatAli, and @TheRickWilson is ludicrous. This is one of the most offensive segments I’ve seen in a while," GOP rapid response director Steve Guest reacted.

CNN received strong condemnation across social media.

"The smug political class hates the tens of millions of Americans who comprise our movement. They can cackle and grandstand...as we build a country based on sovereignty, economic nationalism, and the diffusion of power," former CNN commentator Steve Cortes reacted.

"This isn't disdain or disagreement. What Wajahat, Don, & Rick showed was a disrespect, hatred, & mockery for their fellow man who disagree. I don't want to hear @JakeTapper, @AndersonCooper, @BrianStelter, @ChrisCuomo, or anyone on @CNN lecture about their higher level of decency," NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck wrote.

"Don Lemon will laugh for a minute straight over Rick Wilson and Wajahat Ali mocking Trump supporters and calling them stupid, but don't you dare make a meme or he will freak out," Washington Free Beacon media analyst Cameron Cawthorne quipped.

"If you want to give people a reason to vote Trump as a screw you to the media, keep airing segments like these," Daily Caller editor Peter Hasson said.

Lemon was recently handed a lawsuit by a man who alleges he was a victim of a sexually-charged assault by the CNN anchor. The accuser, Dustin Hice, said Lemon offered a six-figure settlement before talks broke down and the formal complaint was filed.

He is currently competing in the first annual "Smug Industries Liberal Hack Tournament." Lemon defeated Vox journalist Aaron Rupar in the first round and will face off against BuzzFeed editor-in-chief Ben Smith in the second round.

Ivanka Trump, the president's daughter and senior White House adviser, had some uncharacteristically strong criticism on Tuesday after a CNN panel slid into suggesting President Trump's supporters were dumb.

"You consistently make fun of half the country and then complain that it is divided," the first daughter said. "The arrogance, mocking accents and smug ridicule of this nation’s ‘Real Elites’ is disgusting," she said.

She linked to a clip of anti-Trump Republican strategist Rick Wilson, who famously made a crude remark about conservative author Ann Coulter's relationship with President Trump. During a panel on Monday night, Wilson joked that Trump couldn't "find Ukraine on a map if you had the letter U and a picture of an actual, physical crane next to it," Wilson said.

Ivanka Trump has tended to stay away from controversy, even refusing to fire back at comedian Samantha Bee when she hurled a crude expletive at her.

During her father's administration, she's focused on helping return manufacturing jobs to the United States. She told Fox News' Steve Hilton that the administration was working to craft agreements that would make occupational licensing simpler, an issue that particularly affects military families who frequently move.

The president responded by mocking Lemon’s poor ratings, and calling him the “dumbest man on television.”

Wilson, a staunch critic of Trump and the current state of the Republican Party, doubled down on his behavior Tuesday morning.

“The most beautiful part of this entirely contrived phony bullshit outrage about that segment isn’t that I insulted the Maga demo,” Wilson tweeted.

There should a Trump 2020 Reelection megathread for all Trump stuff, combine everything, the impeachment shit, this shit, the daily twitter shit, everything. This is all leading us into him about to start his re election campaign.

I'm thinking Don Lemon deserves one of those awards they give out for the best Commercials. Thanks Don, you made the best Trump Re-election commercial ever! It got him and extra 3 states in November just on your elitist contempt alone.

Its legitimately mind boggling how these people clearly learned absolutely nothing from clintons stupidity in belittling the voters back in 2016

and these same people will sit there in stunned shock with their mouths hanging open on the air in november and be utterly shocked at how trump won the election again

Didn't Mitt Romney face the consequences of that infamous "47%" remark back in 2012? He didn't even call them deplorables or other ugly names; he just said something along the lines of "There's no point in trying to change their minds." I remember that he got eviscerated by the media for that tape.

Fast forward to Current Year (tm), and we have the media calling Trump's large voting block racists, sexists, and Nazis. Now we can add "illiterate" and "slow" to that laundry list.

The hypocritical and out-of-touch nature of these asswipes is really something.

He was an alright troll, at least. When Elijah Cummings (I think?) supporters claimed that he'd been spit on and called a nigger upwards of twelve times in Washington, Breitbart offered $100,000 to anybody who could come forward with footage of it happening. As far as I know it was never collected.

Getting back to this whole CNN thing; people blowing up about this are giving these guys way too much attention. Don Lemon is a catty gay dude snickering with two shitheads about people they don't like. It's not that big of a deal, really. They're not saying anything that couldn't be inferred by the actions or words of other elitists.

It all just feels like a way for right-wingers to drum up some clicks during an otherwise slow news cycle.

Even so, it's still stupid. Why is the news media mocking part of the electorate instead of actually doing their job reporting the news to said electorate? It's ridiculous and patently and disgustingly partisan.

Because Negative articles means more clicks to the site. CNN used to be more middle ground news... not anymore.

Because they think they are better. It's either the 1% thinking they are an ubermensch, or morons that think regurgitating information means they are knowledgeable.

I love this.

Partly because it completely justifies my vote in 2016, and will justify it this November. I voted for Trump in 2016 as a hard middle finger to people like this. The past 3 years have been miserable for them, and I'd greatly enjoy seeing them so miserable for another 5.

Them now: Voters is so dumb!
Them in November: Waaaaaaaaaa!

If this shit and that Kobe Bryant hating feminist journalist has shown that their sense of common decency is all gone now. George Carlin had a great point about modern day feminism, that it was just to make women behave like the worst characture of a greedy wall street fuck. Matt taibi already discussed how everything in journalism is opinionated and professionalized.

Now the only benefit I see here is to rile up the Republican base as other than that Trump has already riled up the left wing, CNN just likes doing Trump's job for him and he needs a high angry voter turnout.

I think this will also rub a lot of undecided voters the wrong way as well. Liberals have a serious smugness problem and they can expect more Trumps and Brexits until they pull their heads in.

Leftist pathology in a nutshell. "We're so much smarter than you we know whats good for you so just let us make all the decisions for you, you dumb, ignorant, bigoted hicks". Followed by 4 years of screeching, crying and acting like hysterical toddlers when the electorate gives them the finger.

Compounded by the fact that when they soul-search over that loss, they can't figure it out, because everyone else in that gated community they talk to thinks exactly the same way, by a straw poll at their latest wine sampling, Hillary should've won by 100%! So where this mysterious 55% that disagree comes from is an unsolvable puzzle to them, it can't just be racist hick voters, surely there aren't MORE Of them than us, how could there be? We took all their jobs and livlihoods away in the 90's, shouldn't they all have starved to death by now?

Must be Russian hackers again, creating this phantom voting bloc online and hacking our ballots.... that's the ONLY way this could have happened.

It's amazing to watch that the Left has gone crazy worldwide. Recent elections here, the Left also went full "I can't believe the plebs didn't vote for us" mode. I miss the times when it was the Right doing this.

A well oiled propaganda machine is a dangerous and useful thing. This, on the other hand, is like watching someone push the rpm as high as they can with no fluids in the engine and then acting confused when it blows up.

If Trump supporters are rubes what are people who are too stubborn to end their hemorrhagic journalism "career"?

I mean not all of them are but if you ARE an illiterate rube, you probably support him.
For every bible-thumpin', cousin-fucking redneck voting red for his Wall, there's at least one single mother of 4 in the hood (several of her baby daddies are probably also her cousins, by the by) who votes straight blue each year for her welfare and Obama phones.
One of the funniest things about being an Independent is watching you partisans jockeying over who's preferred party is "the party of stupid people", pretending they aren't generally mirror versions of each other.

And one of the saddest things is that when people like you and I say that, each side immediately identifies us as the other because they can't even comprehend the idea that it's not about picking one of two teams as if you're rooting at a football game.

"You're with us or against us", say the same Democrats who used to shit on GWB for saying "you're with us or against us".
