Nolte: CNN Segment Ridicules Trump Supporters as Illiterate 'Rubes'
The unholy trinity of CNN, the New York Times, and Never Trump joined Saturday to mock Trump supporters as illiterate rubes.
In the form of Don Lemon, Rick Wilson, and Wajahat Ali, the unholy trinity of CNN, the New York Times, and Never Trump got together Saturday to mock Trump supporters as illiterate rubes.
At first, the only thing notable about the segment was how so much failure was able to fit on a single TV screen. Don Lemon is one of the lowest rated anchors in all of cable news. Never Trumper Rick Wilson is the far-left media’s trained pet. The New York Times Wajahat Ali is — okay, I don’t know who that is.
Anyway, it was Saturday night on CNN, so these three probably figured no one is watching anyway, so why the hell not…
We join the trio in their favorite position: besides themselves with outrage, this time over the fact Secretary of State Mike Pompeo stood up for himself against the welfare queens over at NPR. Pompeo asked one of the welfare queen’s fake reporters if she could find Ukraine on a map, and this is where our story begins…
DON LEMON: [The NPR reporter] has a master’s degree in European studies from Cambridge University. Also, [Pompeo] doesn’t really say that she couldn’t identify Ukraine on a map, he insinuates it’s just a — it’s just a petty attempt to put her down, right? Is that what this is?
RICK WILSON: Of course, of course. [Pompeo’s] just trying to demean her, and obviously, it’s false. And, look, he also knows, deep in his heart, that Donald Trump couldn’t find Ukraine on a map if you had the letter “U” and a picture of an actual physical crane next to it. [Pompeo] knows this is an administration defined by ignorance of the world, and so that’s partly him playing to their base and playing to their audience, you know, the credulous boomer rube demo that backs Donald Trump — that wants to think that [does Trump supporter impersonation with southern accent] ‘Donald Trump’s the smart one, and y’all – y’all elitists are dumb!'”
WAJAHAT ALI: [Trump supporter impersonation] You elitists with your geography and your maps and your spelling!
WILSON: [southern impersonation] Your math and your reading!
ALI: [impersonation] Yeah, your reading, you know, your geography, knowing other countries, sipping your latte!
WILSON: [southern impersonation] All those lines on the map!
ALI: [impersonation] Only them elitists know where Ukraine is! Sorry, I apologize.
LEMON: [wiping tears, laughing] Oh, my God!
ALI: But it was Rick’s fault. I blame Rick. But, in all honesty —
LEMON: Hold on — hold on — hold on. That was good, sorry. Rick, that was a good one — I needed that.
These elites hate us.
Hate.
Us.
And as you can see, CNN is proud of this moment.
But I’ll bet CNN is still baffled over the fact it can’t attract even a million viewers while the president of the United States is on trial.
The other thing to remember is that, if given the chance, these people will commit violence against us.
This is the same Rick Wilson, the same Gollum-in-Glasses, who called on the GOP elite to “put a bullet in Donald Trump,” who asked Ann Coulter if Trump pays her extra for “anal” sex, who calls for lynchings of the “fascists” who fail to see the eternal wisdom of Rick Wilson.
And this is the same Don Lemon who has been credibly accused of sexual misconduct, who openly defends the actions of the left-wing terrorist group Antifa, and who defended the physical harassment of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and his wife.
Primarily, though, this sorry event is the result of elite frustration over the impeachment hoax imploding, Trump’s ongoing roll of successes, and the increase in Trump’s approval numbers. The more the elite fail, the more Trump succeeds, and the more Trump’s success proves how wrong they were and are about everything — from policy to Trump’s competence — the more their hate and bigotry is revealed.
In many ways, the Don Lemons, Rick Wilsons, and Wajahat Alis remind me of the resistance in the Deep South against the civil rights movement. I’m talking about the segregationist Democrats in the Deep South who declared themselves the Resistance, and who became more hateful, openly bigoted, and violent as the Civil Rights movement challenged their power and exposed them for who they really are.
Whether it’s the Deep South in the 50s and 60s, or America today, when Democrats like Lemon, Ali, and Wilson feel their power threatened, feel themselves exposed, they get uglier and uglier.

Conservatives criticized CNN, host Don Lemon and two guests on his show after a clip from Saturday showing a panel mocking President Donald Trump’s supporters went viral.
Lemon, political consultant Rick Wilson and New York Times op-ed writer Wajahat Ali began to mock a group of Trump’s supporters during the segment. Wilson called them the “boomer rube” demographic and then began to fake a Southern accent as the others joined in. Lemon had to pause the segment as he tried to regain control of his laughter.
Conservatives began to respond to the clip, which went viral Monday, expressing their disgust. President Donald Trump chimed in, calling Lemon “the dumbest man on television.”
“The arrogance, mocking accents and smug ridicule of this nation’s ‘Real Elites’ is disgusting,” Ivanka Trump wrote.
White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham also chimed in, denouncing the video. She asked if the outlet would issue an apology. Grisham pointed out that this was an example of why “trust in our media is at an all time low.”
“Wondering if @cnn is going to acknowledge (apologize) for this arrogant & divisive view of our country. There’s a reason trust in our media is at an all time low,” Grisham tweeted Tuesday morning.
Republican California Rep. Devin Nunes decided to let the clip do the talking, writing “Here’s what @CNN thinks of Trump voters.” Republican Tennessee Sen. Marsha Blackburn added that CNN is ignorant and “will have you believe we’re all illiterate deplorables.”
“Bless their hearts,” Blackburn tweeted.
Former Republican Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee wrote that the panelists should laugh now, because they “won’t look so smug” on election night.
Meanwhile, both Wilson and Ali spent hours defending their comments following the clip going viral. Wilson posted screenshots of various hate mail messages while continuing to attack conservatives who called him out for the segment. Ali had multiple tweets thanking people and outlets for making the clip go viral. He also attacked those who commented on the segment.
“Thank you for sharing our clip,” Ali tweeted at Trump. “Can you please release your school transcripts that will show you’re a very stable genius? Also, can you release your taxes and the full transcript of your ‘beautiful’ phone call with Zelensky? Also, can you locate Bangladesh on a map? #BeBest.”

The clip was spotted by former CNN digital producer Steve Krakauer, who blasted the panel.
"The arrogance, the dismissiveness, the smug cackling, the accents," Krakauer reacted. "If Donald Trump wins re-election this year, I’ll remember this brief CNN segment late one Saturday night in January as the perfect encapsulation for why it happened."
Trump knocked Lemon, who he called "the dumbest man on television" as well as his "terrible ratings."
Several members of the Trump campaign slammed the liberal network for mocking the president's supporters.
"Deplorables. This Deplorable is ready," Trump campaign director Brad Parscale shot back with a flexing arm emoji.
"This is a real segment from an actual program on a cable news network that asks to be taken seriously. Not subtle message to huge parts of America: THEY HATE YOU," Trump campaign communications director Tim Murtaugh wrote.
"The media hardly ever hides their contempt for @realDonaldTrump supporters but this clip is featuring CNN’s @donlemon, The New York Times’ @WajahatAli, and @TheRickWilson is ludicrous. This is one of the most offensive segments I’ve seen in a while," GOP rapid response director Steve Guest reacted.
CNN received strong condemnation across social media.
"The smug political class hates the tens of millions of Americans who comprise our movement. They can cackle and grandstand...as we build a country based on sovereignty, economic nationalism, and the diffusion of power," former CNN commentator Steve Cortes reacted.
"This isn't disdain or disagreement. What Wajahat, Don, & Rick showed was a disrespect, hatred, & mockery for their fellow man who disagree. I don't want to hear @JakeTapper, @AndersonCooper, @BrianStelter, @ChrisCuomo, or anyone on @CNN lecture about their higher level of decency," NewsBusters managing editor Curtis Houck wrote.
"Don Lemon will laugh for a minute straight over Rick Wilson and Wajahat Ali mocking Trump supporters and calling them stupid, but don't you dare make a meme or he will freak out," Washington Free Beacon media analyst Cameron Cawthorne quipped.
"If you want to give people a reason to vote Trump as a screw you to the media, keep airing segments like these," Daily Caller editor Peter Hasson said.
Lemon was recently handed a lawsuit by a man who alleges he was a victim of a sexually-charged assault by the CNN anchor. The accuser, Dustin Hice, said Lemon offered a six-figure settlement before talks broke down and the formal complaint was filed.
He is currently competing in the first annual "Smug Industries Liberal Hack Tournament." Lemon defeated Vox journalist Aaron Rupar in the first round and will face off against BuzzFeed editor-in-chief Ben Smith in the second round.

Ivanka Trump, the president's daughter and senior White House adviser, had some uncharacteristically strong criticism on Tuesday after a CNN panel slid into suggesting President Trump's supporters were dumb.
"You consistently make fun of half the country and then complain that it is divided," the first daughter said. "The arrogance, mocking accents and smug ridicule of this nation’s ‘Real Elites’ is disgusting," she said.
She linked to a clip of anti-Trump Republican strategist Rick Wilson, who famously made a crude remark about conservative author Ann Coulter's relationship with President Trump. During a panel on Monday night, Wilson joked that Trump couldn't "find Ukraine on a map if you had the letter U and a picture of an actual, physical crane next to it," Wilson said.

Ivanka Trump has tended to stay away from controversy, even refusing to fire back at comedian Samantha Bee when she hurled a crude expletive at her.
During her father's administration, she's focused on helping return manufacturing jobs to the United States. She told Fox News' Steve Hilton that the administration was working to craft agreements that would make occupational licensing simpler, an issue that particularly affects military families who frequently move.

Wilson, a staunch critic of Trump and the current state of the Republican Party, doubled down on his behavior Tuesday morning.
“The most beautiful part of this entirely contrived phony bullshit outrage about that segment isn’t that I insulted the Maga demo,” Wilson tweeted.
