I've burnt out on FF14 at the moment so I've decided to go back to the Switch for my gaming fix. Super Mario Odyssey is pretty nice though I haven't bothered to get all the moons, especially since there's a lot you just straight up buy with coins. Luigi's Mansion 3 was also pretty decent though a bit on the short side and I never touched the multiplayer. A Hat in Time is one I've finished and I've got to say, it's quite crusty as far as ports go. There's parts where the game will just hang (mostly in Mafia Town) for a few seconds. I'm somewhat interested in trying out the Doom2016 port just to see how it stacks up to the PC version but mostly because I'm a fucking Nintoddler who consumes trash.
As far as playtime goes, I've spent more time with the Switch than I have with the Wii and 3DS. Far from being a dust collector for me until the MMO addiction kicks in again.

Look into some other games. Not sure what your tastes are and haven't gotten a Switch yet, so can't help much. If you like JRPGs, it seems to be a solid system. Digimon Cyberslueth, Tales of Vesperia, Dragon Quest 11 S, Romancing SaGa 3(play for the combat system and business buying minigame. Half pay attention to the story), Octopath Traveler(like SaGa, no one plays this for the story. Its combat system is fantastic if you have the time for a 100+ hour game with a meh story). Haven't played Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but heard it was good.
If you've never played Devil May Cry 1 or 3(2 is on there, but it induces insanity), then look into the ports on there. If you try the first one, get the rocket launcher when you can. You'll breeze through the game just shooting rockets at clown demons and lizard ninjas. 3, sadly, has no OP rocket launcher. If you enjoy this type of action game, both Bayonetta games are on there.
If you aren't into PC gaming, the Switch has a wealth of ports of the more popular indie PC games. I'd recommend Stardew Valley because farming is relaxing, man. Can't make a weed farm, unfortunately. A brewery is possible, though.

Did they fix the pink-haired girl quest? In the original it would never actually active, and so you could never keep her as a permanent party member. She was really good at something, but I forget what.

Yeah, the Vita was such wasted potential. Gravity Rush and Uncharted were great but nearly all the games were JRPGs. So glad the Switch actually has

Rune factory is not Nintendo and no it isn’t.
In Fire emblem they gutted that stuff. Almost all of it is platonic towards the students.

Ever since I got my left JoyCon back from the NoA repair center (caught the drift, it did), I've been rediscovering my interest in the Switch. I like it for its portability first and exclusives second. Being free of a TV lets me spend time with my wife and pets instead of feeling like I'm a pale and neglectful shut-in. We can watch TV while I replay Secret of Mana.
I don't mind paying the Nintendo tax on older ports, especially if I haven't played them before. And while I'm at it, I can enjoy the new Zeldas and whatnot when they come out.
A Switch is nice. If you like games, it has too much potential to let it rot.

For real. I've thought about getting one, but literally the only game I would play on it is breath of the wild. I cant justify getting a console for one game.

You buy a Nintendo console for Nintendo's games and everything else is gravy, it's been that way for so long I don't see the point in complaining about it anymore.
I just wish they would drop the idea of some central gimmick (motion controls, portability) at the cost of hardware power, it's been almost 20 fucking years since a Nintendo console wasn't a step behind everything else (I guess the Wii U was mostly on par... for a single year)
The Switch is going to be as embarrassingly dated once the PS5 and the Xbox Series X release as the Wii was when compared to the PS3 and 360, that's really bad considering this is only the Switch's third year.

The only titles I really sunk any significant time into were Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (240 hours) and Fire Emblem three houses (120 hours). There's no reason to play multiplats on it, any from phone from 2019 on could run games better if it didn't have an operating system and had cooling fans. The Tegra X1 GPU was ahead of flagship phone GPUs in benchmarks for what, 2 years?
Playing it in mobile mode makes me feel like i'm playing a game on an old tablet with neat peripherals. Playing it in docked mode it just feels I'm playing same retro game with kinda shit graphics but good gameplay.

That idea is what's been keeping the lights on for the last decade+, since using older hardware is significantly cheaper, thereby allowing them to turn a profit on the hardware on day one instead of 2-3 years after launch like Microsoft and Sony.

I understand the logistical reasons behind it, I'm just speaking as a gamer, it's sad to think of the Gamecube forever being the end of an era for Nintendo.
The whole portability thing is actually the only reason I even own one. I can just hang around places playing quality recent games, not N64 ports, low-effort shovelware, or shitty phone apps.

I’m sure it’s nice for those that want it for that reason, but speaking personally it’s not been a big factor for me.
Perhaps Nintendo should have offered options sort of like the PS4 and PS4 Pro where you could get a console only version that’s a little beefier at least as far as resolution and frame rate.

I already have physical copies of every game I would have wanted to play on Switch for Wii U. Mario Odyessy is trash imo and Super Mario 3D World blows the fucking piss out of it. I have Mario Kart 8, Super Mario Bros. U, Zelda and Danky Kong for Wii U. I used my Switch to play Sonic Mania and my wife played Pokemon Let's Go, and that's the only use it's gotten since 2017. It has a great library if you're not one of the eight people who had a Wii U like me. I was expecting at least a new New Super Mario Bros and Mario Kart that I could smoke dope and play. I feel like Nintendo broke some weird pact we had for the last 20 years where I buy their console no matter how shitty the library is and they give me a new Mario, Zelda and Mario Kart for it. Instead I got Banjo Kazooie with a Mario skin, a bunch of games I already have and memes of men with no testicles posing with the console.

Switch isn't getting a port of Ys: Memories of Celceta even though Xseed is bringing over Rune Factory 4.
While the RPG offerings have been stronger compared to the last 4 Nintendo systems, many series are still struggling to find an audience on the platform. NISA is going to try with cold steel but I see that going badly since they're starting with the third game in the Cold Steel series and the 8th game Trails series in total.
I'm still getting weird ports and compilations for the system though, I want to find that Final Fantasy 7 and 8 collection cheap.
Capcom has also supposedly abandoned the plans for things like continuing Monster Hunter Generations/Classic Monster Hunter, especially in the wake of how well Iceborne has done on PS4 and PC.

Same. I bought two because I was excited for the prospects of a bustling homebrew scene. Not very interested in first-party Nintendo titles, and everything I’ve played on the Switch in great detail was a game I already owned on PC or something. I should get rid of them before the inevitable console refresh occurs.
