Yes, with situations as early as the "corrupt bargain" of 1824, where Andrew Jackson and his supporters reee'd at John Quincy Adams for working the delegate floor since he had the biggest vote support.

Most recent memorable one being 2000, and yes, you will still find some people salty about that one too.
 
It is astounding the amount of children (literal and figurative) who bitch about the electoral college. Part of me wants it to go away so these tards can see how awful a popular vote only system would be, but once we go there we probably won’t be able to go back 🤔

Yeah, every time a Republican wins, pretty much, though they usually settle down and stop jabbering about it when they realize that no one's buying their "principled stand" for the popular vote. That's the major difference this time, they're still harping on it and making noises that they want to do something about it. Like everything this inanity-insanity has always been there, Trump's presence just seems to have vastly intensified it.

I don't really think they give a shit about it unless it gives the victory to a Republican candidate (as it did in 2016). Only then do these people start whining and bitching about how horrible it is and that it should be removed.

At no point did Al Gore ever have a vote Tally that exceeded that of George W. Bush. The point was to continue doing recounts until one finally came out with him ahead, at which point he could declare victory and contest the election. The supreme court, quite justifiably, said "No, you can't game the system anymore."

In the progressive mind, this amounts to the election being stolen.

They just lost anywhere from 10 to 100 million dollars for calling a kid a Nazi and based of this idiot's tweet they've learned nothing. I hope the next time they slander someone the judge notices a pattern of behavior and pushes the damages into bankruptcy territory.

At some point these people must be held accountable.

They tried to do the same thing in Georgia, trying to force a recount and maybe, maybe force a runoff. When they couldn’t get what they want, they whine about election sterling or long lines at the polling stations, etc. The best thing they can do is to cause enough doubt as to delegitimize their opponent.

Not quite. That was true in Florida alone, where Bush always had a lead, and it increased from about 300 on election night to 537 once the recounts were stopped and they certified the results.

However, Gore did win the popular vote nationwide by 547,398 total. He was the first person to win the popular but lose the Electoral College since Grover Cleveland in 1888. The Democrats got salty about it, but they didn't fully lose their minds until Bush won re-election in 2004 by 3 million votes. And he won FL by a solid 5% in 2004, just to rub it in their face. (More fun trivia here.)
