Wait until this clown has to pay actual court costs for something. Even a no-contest/no kids/no lawyer divorce can cost $300-400 in “fees” alone to have everything filed & get copies of all the necessary paperwork, not to mention the time/effort/anxiety of schlepping your ass to a courthouse on their schedule, waiting in line, being told two different things by two different offices, coming back on a different day bc oops that office closed early, etc. But if you want to have anything to do with the state, their records, & their recognized legal bs, that’s just how it goes. Since she's looking at the government website, I'm wondering if she's seeing the cost of having a certified copy mailed to you, which can be pretty costly. I don't live in NY, but I know in my state, it costs around $45 to have a document like that mailed to you. If you go to the county courthouse yourself, it's only like $15.
