This is a cycle that repeats itself every single time furries do stupid shit and it ends up on the news. Some journalist will google image search "furries" or something to get a photo of the furries in costumes. In fact, if you google search "furries" right now this image will come up from the original article, so it's clear the writer wanted a stock image.

To a journalist, they're generic costumes no different than mascots you see at sportsball games in the stands. To furries however, these animal costumes are an actual representation of their true selves and this means that using a random image of furries in the news whenever there's an article detailing furries doing stupid shit is tying them into this crime. While this usually is not intentional because said journalists are outsiders, it's interesting seeing furries more worried about the fact that they were used in an article critical of the fandom.

For those who don't know, Goathole is a "Pay to get in" group ran by Dionysius Tragos, a faggot that left Altfurry during the wonderfully nostalgic leaks that exposed him as a weird dogfucker and CP lover.
