💰 Grifter StoneToss (allegedly, formerly Red Panels)

It's about LGBTQIA+. The letters are fighting.

It feels weird seeing people not get these comics half the time when I perfectly understand them.

I didn't see the N in the background on panel 4 before enlarging the thumbnail. It's about the NIGGER word.

I had to go look up the cartoon from the site. The title is "the scarlet letter" , so it's got to be about people being branded for life after committing the high crime of dropping a hard r with the wrong skin color... but I wouldn't really get it without the explanatory title. This is a sign of a poorly executed joke or point

StoneToss just had his Cow Tools moment with this one.

I'm assuming the B and C are black and colored and since A has no black people word, the a must be supplemented by nigga, a racial slur to describe blacks that contains the letter A. Either way, this comic is completely incoherent and the meaning is mostly lost on me.

A isn't looking in that direction, the other two are. That's why they are scared but A isn't, because he doesn't realise the big scary N is there.

Of course, it would be easier to tell that if they weren't fucking letters.

"A" could be "African American" if you're going down that road

Really, once you take the title into account, it works perfectly as a one panel cartoon with only the fourth panel. The rest are filler panels that just confuse the point without the title: "Why are b and c afraid of a great big n coming out of the shadows? What do a b and c stand for?"

The other three panels aren't much better with the title "ohh, a is the old scarlet letter. Why are b and c blue and green? What were they supposed to be in the book?"

The 'A' is for Adultery - which used to be the WORST social violation that a person could commit
Now the 'N' word is the worst social evil that can be uttered. Kinda funny, adultery is considered nbd - and articles in Salon actually promote it.

that's my interpretation.

I think you're overthinking it that much.

B and C are running away. A, the first (and prob. most "important" letter) is asking "what"?, not realising N is now the most important letter of the alphabet.

You're over thinking it. It's a bad implementation of a simple meme based on the fact that just posting the letter 'N' alone is cause for bans in some circumstances, due to that pesky 'N' word. 'N' is now a scary letter, and towers monstrously above all others. 'B' and 'C' are looking in that direction and terrified. 'A' is confused and unalarmed because he's looking at 'B' and 'C'.

Ok, maybe you and @Tasty Tatty are correct. I tend to overthink things...

I still like my interpretation.

something...something...art and interpretation...something

So what I'm getting from all this is that it's not funny.

Unlike most of the parodies of his work I can at least see the general outline of the intended joke.
But yeah, execution was awful.
Although part of me thinks he would be just as happy to see people loving a comic as he is to see people like us going back and forth trying to find meaning etc. He seems that kinda guy.

This is like listening to Beatles songs backwards to try to find secret meaning, but significantly more autistic.

It got 13 replies peacefully discussing a proper interpretation of its intended meaning and punchline in this thread. As they say, "what matters is it started a conversation."

People, read your classics.

...seriously though, I think it's just about the thing where someone posts "N" on twitter (with a reply from someone else "I" then "G" and so on.

This means that people get banned from twitter for a single tweet of a single letter like "A" or "G". That's funny. They're only wrong if they're posted in the wrong thread.... when it comes after a certain scarlet letter.

This probably would've been profound if the title of the comic wasn't already 'Scarlet Letter'.

The huge variety of interpretations makes these really interesting, which is why this comic is probably akshully about interracial pornography.
B - beta
C - cuckold
This is obviously the real meaning.
