A part of it is that most of those notes are from wannabe artists and artists are a petty breed by nature, so if they see something that looks "easy" to do or in other words, shows no skill, they'll reblog that instead of a skilled piece because the skilled piece will make them feel bad about their own art skills. This is really common within low level art programs apparently, at least according to my mentor. There was a lot of bullying in my entry level program and still within the groups of artists who couldn't get into a higher specialized program. The higher programs are still vicious, but in a fair way and any of this petty bullshit would get stomped out. You could always see it when there was a peer critique and a skilled artist went right after an artist straight out of this thread. The shitty artist would get their ass kissed and the skilled artist would be torn apart on bullshit terms like "it's just not cute" or "it's ugly" with nothing more specific because the people tearing it apart didn't have the artistic skill to name what was actually wrong, and often there was very little wrong. It was even more jarring when it was followed by a critique provided by faculty, because then the shit artist would get scolded for being shit and the skilled artist would get praised after being trashed and told their art was shit and they were talentless just 10 minutes before. Also the skilled artists were the ones who always had pieces show up in the trash or stolen and their supplies go mysteriously missing and they were often shunned from any student-run social events within those low level programs.
TL;DR : Artists are petty.

Big dyke warrior who acts like a man and smol femme girl. It's such a laughable stereotype and I'm honestly not sure why actual lesbians aren't more annoyed by this. The same shit happens in awful yaoi. One is clearly 'the girl' cuz frail and pretty and at that point it's basically just a het pairing. Just like this comic.
Y'know I have infinitely more respect for Utena who showed that a girl could be a duelling knight to save a Princess and not be just a man body and personality with tits slapped on it.

You nailed it on the antithesis of anime. It's basic swing effect, everyone drew anime in the 2000s, now that we're in the 2010s, people are trying their damndest to get away from that image, so dopey eyes, big noses, potato heads, meaty bodies. A lot of these artists will use anime as an insult now.
Anyways, here's shitty sjw art to make up for that last text dump I posted.
