Nah, Chris thinks OC means any fictional character, not just fan-made recolors. He would consider Superman to be Jerry Siegel’s OC, for example.

In a really weird way, he’s not wrong. (And, FTM, I always thought the term “OC” had a bit of sarcasm/irony in it, given how little originality there is in a recolor.) Even though Superman had his genesis in the pulp magazines, Superman as a character is far more original than taking Sonic or a pony and just giving it a different color.
