It's simple: He's acting like an edgy 15-year-old, that's why it's so god damn annoying. Hell, I acted kinda like this (less so on social media) when I was a youngling.
For teens, it's pretty much standard to be an attention-seeking faggot. This guy though...He's like, what, 40-something? It just makes him a manipulative cunt that is taking advantage of his, most likely, young fanbase that can relate and feel sad that someone they admire is feeling like shit.
I could be wrong though, the guy could just be a mental nutjob that needs to get professional help.
Going off his age (and, well, how little he knows and how poorly he plays games), I seriously doubt he ever really gave a shit about video games save for an Atari 2600 or something when he was a very little kid.
When I found out his age, I googled the ages of a bunch of other notable internet game reviewers, commentators, indie game devs, etc: I can't even count the number of ones who were born in 1980, but barely anyone was born before that. The only people I found who were born before like 1979 were the guy who does Classic Game Room and the Penny Arcade creators, and all of them were still younger than Boogie.
This sharp drop-off actually makes sense if you consider the history of video games. When people Boogie's age were kids in the early 80's, the game industry as a whole was basically a gimmick and ended up shitting itself due to the piss-poor quality of the games. When the NES came out in North America in 1986, it was disguised as purely a kid's toy, ensuring that nobody older than like 10 would even think of getting one.
So while the 8-year-olds of 1982 were getting jaded by games that would ultimately kill off the gaming fad, the 8-year-olds of 1988 were experiencing NES games that would be fondly remembered 30+ years later and give birth to the modern gaming industry.
TL;DR: There's a pretty huge generation gap between Boogie2988 and people like James Rolfe in terms of video game experience.

He did today. On a stream months ago he mentioned he quit opening them because the last few he didn't like. His tweet about it today stated he did it because he didn't want to risk people subscribing because of him and not getting product. More typical revisionist history/outright lying to make himself look "better".
