Fired Blizzard Employee leaks hilarious insider information - Probably fake but entertaining

Not to defend my shitposting too much, but how else would a fired employee post such leaks than anonymously?

He couldn't attach his name to it, if he ever wanted to get a job in the game industry again.

I would definitely believe WoW is sub 1 million subs. It looks like they are toying with an EQ-like mercenary system. Before 8.2 dropped I stopped playing because no one was ever on and 8.2 is nothing special.

I'm also curious as to how many people actually pay. I haven't paid for WoW since tokens were introduced. I just buy them with gold. It isn't hard to make that much gold.

Like with most "4chan" leaks, I'll take it with a massive grain of salt, but but still entertain the idea of "what if it's true" because got-damn the drama it would stuff up would be colossal if even half of this where true.

It's a shame thought because Blizzard used to be one of my favorite companies and used to be really cool. I remember that they used to throw in references to popular fans of theirs into their games (Oxhorn, Cru the Dwarf, Red Shirt guy, ect.) which was really cool as companies rarely do that. But after Wraith of the Lich King & Starcraft 2 (A.K.A after they got bought by Activision) they slowly seemed to be dropping more and more in quality. The love and effort that they put into their game was slowly being bleed out and replaced with appealing to the common denominator.

WoW was big for me back in the day, sure it almost ruined my life, but it also got me into fantasy. Despite what people might say, early WoW was really well written, hell, Warcraft 3's story was down right excellent in my opinion. Now there's hardly a spark left of their original creative passion, no wonder Chris left.

God I hope Blizzard doesn't try to go down the FPS route with Diablo, not after the fucking fiasco they had with the Diablo mobile announcement at Blizzcon. Some of my fondest memories of Diablo 3 were just sitting in the living room playing coop with my roommate at Uni. Ah well at least Chaosbane exists to fill the void I guess. Still its a damn shame Blizzard is gonna take a massive shit on game style that has proven to work in the past and continue to keep the fans engaged.

Imagine the backlash if that Diablo 4 actually being an FPS game bit is true. They thought people dunking on Diablo Immortal was bad? How about completely change the genre of a beloved decades old series for literally no reason?

I don't think even Blizzard is that stupid, but you never know.
I'd be fine with it tbh. Diablo 3 was garbage and I really doubt an hypothetical Diablo 4 following the same formula would be any better and I would love myself a dark fantasy fps in the vein of Hexen or Painkiller.

Also 99.9% of the leaks posted on 4chan are bullshit and so is this one. I'm ready to believe WoW has less than 1mil subs tho.

There's some glaring issues with this that involve using common/previously reported issues with Blizzard/the industry as a whole(See this story from when a guy quit over racist/sexist comments as well as some serious mental fuckery) including people sleeping under their desks(not uncommon during crunch) and appeasing to X audience(Overwatch twitter, the Chinese, etc.). It seems too juicy to be true, taking advantage over their recent public side and Activision actively shitting itself to dunk on what's left that it cast a net so wide as to include most possible scenarios that at least a handful of things coming true can fool someone into believing the entire thing.

Take it not with a grain of salt, but an entire bag, because with some research into game dev jobs you can fake just about anything and someone with an axe to grind will believe you.

And why in the fuck couldn't they give us a better fucking image, instead of that jpg of a jpg bullshit. I mean, I don't think any of it is going to be legit, but I want to at least be able to read the jokes.

Are you actually retarded or are you just pretending?

You have to open it in a different tab

After reading the title I came here for employees identifying as attack helicopters, for dragonkin and furry degeneration, rampant political correctness and unmitigated HR disasters, stayed for the somber shit. But speaking of unmitigated HR disasters, WTF is this shit:

...after websites like massively reported on female employees having to log their ovulation cycles.

Is this even legal in Freedomistan?

Another thing - I like how they've apparently decided to sacrifice the casual players of Overwatch and to optimize for esports. It means that they've learned jack shit from SC2, which was basically the beginning of the end. I quit playing 5 or so years ago, I don't care that the game is optimized around some korean autist, locked in his basement, playing 12 hours a day (they've stated multiple times, that the game was optimized around the top 1 or 2% of the players).

Anyways, the whole story is a bit sad. I 'member the days, when if Blizzard released a game, it was the game everybody and his dog was playing. Even SC2 was for a while such game. Now it is just yet another AAA studio.

Dark Diablo 4 FPS? No it's going to be a bright, colorful and optimistic diablo 4. One where you and the whole family can play at being demons and saving the world for goodness and sugar.

Just the natural evolution from a company built on passion and ambition, using such thing as allowing you to spawn your install on 7 other computer so you can lan with the 8 of you, to a newer company focused on extracting as much value as quickly as possible from its existing dominance.

Apparently it's voluntary- https://www.gamesindustry.biz/artic...n-blizzard-pays-employees-for-health-tracking

They get a $1 gift card in exchange per day of using the health tracking software:
The piece reveals that Activision Blizzard has been compensating its employees for using health monitoring technology since 2014, when it began encouraging the use of Fitbit activity trackers.

Since then, the company has expanded the effort to include tracking of mental health, sleep habits, and diet, as well as autism and cancer care.

Do blizzard employees get another 1$ a day extra if they agree to work in a cage?

I work at DQ and confirm all this.

Don't be non-American.

There are more credible ways to post anonymously than to post on /v/. If you actually wanted to fuck over Blizzard, a few emails to Jason Schreier over at Kotaku would could get a massive article like this or this written. Schreier doesn't really care about games, so he probably wouldn't reference the shitty shit they're allegedly doing to their games, but the shit they're doing to their people would get exposed more credibly.

I find the entire post to be non credible, as how does this one guy know the exact mood, progress and future of every game team at Blizz. Blizzard has 5000 fucking employees. Did the guy get fired for gossiping all day? The idea that 'we need a Destiny killer, also we want to expand Overwatch into more PvE elements. I know, lets make Overwatch a Left 4 Dead clone, and make Diablo 4 a fantasy Looter Shooter" is so fucking stupid that it had to come from Blizzard.
