Are you "worried" about this forum or its members? How about null? Historically nobody gives a fuck about suicide here and I have no idea why people are just starting to give a shit now. Terryberry's suicide was about a million times more tragic due to the abuse she was subjected to, and the response was to post her asshole pics.

If asshole pics for this guy existed they would be right here. It's about what you have to work with from that side of things and he was a very different person from Terryberry.

You don't fete all suicides in the same way.

edit to add I am not 100% sure Terryberry was suicide but that's way off topic!

Well, I guess I'll expect his video on it in a year and a half.

This isn't the first time he's done this, btw, he blamed H3H3 for allegedly making Patrice Wilson have a mental breakdown and ruining his life by calling him a creepy pedo. (A lot of the music videos he produced starred preteen girls and were really weird, to put it lightly). Then it turned out the cryptic videos/countdown Patrice was posting was actually publicity for some kind of horror series, and him acknowledging H3H3 was likely for more exposure.
 
Situations like this are why I always get irritated when people claim mental illness as a "Get Out of Consequences Free" card for asshole behavior. From Russell Greer claiming his "anxiety" is what makes him accuse hookers of having AIDS and wish death on Taylor Swift's mom, to Clawshrimpy suicide baiting every time people confront him with the evidence of his pedophilia, to Chantal Sarault labeling herself "bipolar" to justify being a pathological liar and gorging herself to 400+ pounds, the Farms are full of lolcows who self-diagnose themselves with some DSM-V buzzwords to try to score oppression points and shield themselves from criticism. Mental illness should not be treated as a fun special snowflake label to show off to shame others into swallowing your bullshit, but all too often these days that's exactly how it's handled. Legitimate cries for help get overlooked because they get lumped in with all the attention whore screeching, and mental illness LARPers drain scarce resources away from our underfunded and understaffed mental health system.

No, I fully agree with @Crippled Eagle. Etika was so twisted in his head and far off the deep end that he ultimately saw his life as nothing more than a meme and lived as an ignorant motherfucker. If you want to be a joke, you should be treated as one.
 
I watched a fair bit of Etika’s old content and found it mostly inoffensive. Not my personal brand of humor (all I can think of when watching the few videos I did was that other black kid who went super saiyan, went viral, then DFE’d), but I did manage a chuckle or two. The dude had undeniable charisma and could have really marketed himself.

I’m not going to comment on mental health or suicide, there’s been plenty of that here already. I just hope that his passing was quick. I also wish the best for his family.

What I don’t understand is how quickly this thread has degenerated and the in-fighting it has caused. Can we keep the bitching and senseless jabs against each other in PMs?

It's just on topic disagreements. Nobody here is actually asshurt at another user.

Also it isn't infighting because we aren't a hivemind. People are allowed to have their own opinions, especially on such a loaded topic.

Some maybe. Some idiot who is about to be caught for kiddie porn or the last "victim" of a mass shooting. Fucking cowards. Scrape them up, put them back together, reanimate them, make them face their lives and their loved ones.

But some people don't have people that love them, or do not realise that they do because they are in an abnormal psychological state. Some may even see their killing themselves as a kinder solution to their loved ones, especially if they have a history of mental illness and feel they are a burden on their loved ones. Some people are experiencing extreme grief, which does extreme things to the mind, or psychosis or delusions.

You're over simplifying a really complex issue which is the second biggest killer of males in the US ages 10-34.
 
I think what bothers me the most about this is how him comiting suicide.... worked. I mean I went from barely hearing about him to having the media turn him into a tragic figure to celebrate. If he could have looked into the future and see how killing himself would give him all this positive attention wheras doing nothing leads to him fading into irrelevancy, wouldn't that justify it for him?

I'll say this, I feel really bad for the family, and especially for the brother trying to contact Etika when he heard the news Etika went missing only to get nothing, but that is the extent of my sympathy; My condolances to the family.
 
That really was a sad video to watch. He clearly was in a manic episode and the police did a decent job.

I know I'm late but I just watched the video and he should have been hospitalized for an extended period, but then that is the state of our mental healthcare...he would have been released within 5-7 days for "community outpatient care" which is non-existent in most states.

I agree with the sentiments to his family, they didn't deserve this, but it's just a known fact anyone will use someone's death online to grant themselves unwarranted self-importance tokens.
 
I think the lesson here is: if you're gonna commit suicide, at least do it in a way that's funny enough to merit it's own wikipedia entry. IRL rocket jumping, anal insertion of a fire hydrant, jumping out of a pane at 5000 ft above water and screaming "Cannonball, woooo!", building a hang glider out of some shitty kid's kites and a lawn chair before jumping off a cliff. Just so something with some goddamed whimsy to it, you selfish self-inflicters!

You say this is a joke, but they are starting to put up so many barriers and nets that some of the most famous bridges in America are going to be completely obscured eventually. Actually they're probably better off just making all bridges above ground tubes. Who needs open space to walk in? You can buy pictures at the local souvenir shop!
