General Wrestling Discussion

So...we are taught in wrestling schools that there are good heels and bad heels.

Good heels use their extensive knowledge of the language and arrogant body language to rile up the crowd. Bad heels call fans faggots on the mic, give fans the finger, and use other vulgarities to get heat.

Good heels know that the dirty moves inside the ring (eye pokes, grabbing the ropes while performing a submission, putting your feet on the ropes, etc) get the fans pissed. Bad heels think constant dick punches will make them the bad guy.

Good heels have fans try to hit them. Bad heels try to hit the fans.

Personally i'm excited for AEW... although I Hear the Weekly Match will be on Tuesday Nights instead of monday... It's nice to see TNT having Wrestling Programming again, Maybe if AEW has Monday Night programming lined up some day, we could see another Monday Night War.

Funny thing, that reminds me...There was the notable interview the Dudleys did years ago with RFvideo (I think that’s the one) where Bubba talked about how there is any heat is good heat. “Heat is heat” was the main point of his rant. That logic would certainly explain the way Enzo and Cass were brought into ROH

Also, if they bring Ted Turner on to make a live statement about AEW on one of their shows, it could rustle Vince McMahon’s jimmies something fierce; because (in spirit) it would be like Ted Turner getting a second chance to take Vinny Mac down (and yes I realize that may not happen at all, but it would make everything come full circle).

Yeah heat is heat, but you'll always be remembered for "that one" promo, and in the case of WWE and AEW, they don't want that kind of heat. Anyone can throw a middle finger up or call a female fan a slut, but it takes effort to make the fans legit hate you.

MJF is the best example of a heel in today's wrestling. Before that, The Miz was pretty high on the list.

The proceeds will go to victims of gun violence...the FBI accounted for 10,982 crimes that involved firearms in 2017, and with a smaller show we can safely assume tickets will be $50-60 range for a arena that seats 5,500...carry the one...that gives each victim of murders involving firearms a whopping total of $30. And that's if none of the wrestlers take a payday for the show, and it's not including violent crimes involving a firearm, just murders.

Carney and virtue signaling go hand in hand.

Modern politics are just like the shittiest carnivals. You can't win any of the prizes unless you're a plant, best case scenario you're being taken for a ride and no matter what you put in your mouth it'll make you sick

I wonder if Borash or Abyss are involved with this. Also was it ever determined if Chris Parks owns the Abyss gimmick? The more off-the-radar stuff like this can get really goofy in what they'll reference, so Abyss popping up isn't really that improbable if there's not a rights issue.

Marty Jannetty working on getting a thread here. I didn’t know whether to laugh my ass off or feel bad.

I’m curious in this era of #MeToo, does anyone think the Plane Ride from Hell might come back to bite WWE in the ass again? For anyone not in the know, this happened in 2002, during a WWE tour from the U.K. where most of the roster got horribly high and caused a ruckus making the female attendants uncomfortable from singing through the mic, and Ric Flair walking naked. Oh and someone almost peed on Linda McMahon and some other folks.

The Altamont of the Attitude Era. WWE are still trying to sell this stuff like wacky hijinx with those kooky wrestlers in retrospectives. I don’t know how much it will bite a company that saddles up to the Saudis while virtue signalling a women’s revolution at home but I bet the stuff we don’t know about this and other international tours is even more damning.

Anybody remember the DVDVR sleaze thread?

Parks has used the Abyss character in ROH, overseas, and basically every indie. It’s a safe bet he owns the trademark. Abyss vs Undertaker and Abyss vs Kane are both legitimately appealing matchups for these overseas money grubbing shows it would have my attention.

The Miz as a babyface for the sake of shilling a reality show is an absolute travesty.

Sadly, I heard Ted has been having a lot of health issues and is in rough shape. I’m not sure if mental, physical, or both but I have heard he has bipolar disorder. Also he’s been severed from the Networks bearing his name for over two decades now. I’m sure wrestling back on Turner (An AT&T corporation) is bittersweet for him. I also think Vince would actually like to put Ted in the HoF while he’s still around. He definitely deserves it.

Tag yourself. I’d like to be Jericho egging Jim on, but deep down I know I’m Corny. “Why the hell would we order it if we didn’t want you to fix it?”

Marty is low-key asking for a PC training role. Granted, saying you get all coked out is probably the wrong way about it, but whatever.

You should have seen the massive amount of attractive young women absolutely swarming on this post. You would think "How does a 60 year old washed up alcoholic coke addict wrestler get tons and tons of hot women?" and the answer is they all want to save him. Human psychology is fucking weird.

I feel for the guy in a lot of ways, it sucks to have your name be shorthand for the failed half of a duo. It's like Roy Munson in Kingpin. He seems to be making the best of it I guess. You certainly cannot accuse the man of being a fake.

He was a great hand in his day but I doubt they want someone who is like the epitome of the 80s wrestling go go party on the road coke and pills attitude training their clean cut carefully packaged and marketed future talents.

Why did WWE have to book another Goldberg match?

It's on him for agreeing to come back because a guy who helps spread constant anti-Semitic propaganda and murders lawful American residents offered him enough money to buy a Bugatti, but it never should've come up at all. He already had the perfect farewell match with Lesnar at 'Mania, and he'll be lucky if all he got from this Undertaker match was a concussion.

I wouldn't be surprised if Taker got an injury, too. What a fucking shitshow.

A shoot brainbuster and a shoot tombstone piledriver. What a day.

We both know that sadly is not going to happen.
Eric Bischoff stands more of a chance of entering the HoF than Ted.
