Disaster Shooting At STEM School Highlands Ranch (Colorado) - Two Shooters - One Dead, Eight Injured

One 18-year-old male was killed and eight students were hurt in a shooting at STEM School Highlands Ranch and police say “two shooters” were caught by officers running into the building. Both suspects are students at the school.

The school is located approximately 8 miles from Columbine High School in neighboring Jefferson County.

Denver7 reported that investigators believe at least one of the suspects stole the guns from the parents of the 18-year-old suspect,

Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock confirmed that at least two handguns were used in the shooting.

High-ranking sources told Denver7 Tuesday night that three handguns and a rifle were recovered but said the rifle was not used in the shooting

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. – One student is dead and eight others injured after two of their classmates opened fire at a suburban Denver STEM school on Tuesday.

Superintendent Thomas S. Tucker said in a letter to parents that STEM School Highlands Ranch, a public charter school with more than 1,850 students in kindergarten through 12th grade, will be closed for the remainder of the week.

"This is a terrible event," Douglas County Sheriff Tony Spurlock said. "This is something that nobody wants to happen in their community."

Kendrick Castillo, 18, was identified Wednesday as the lone fatality, the sheriff said.

One suspect is a "female juvenile," police said after originally identifying the teen as male. The other was identified by police as Devon Erickson, 18.

I'm still wondering if they will release the identity of the second shooter or not.

Given the fact they are a minor, the authorities are probably following standard procedure and not releasing the identity until a certain point in the investigation, but given the nature of this crime and the perpetrators involved, I'm honestly worried that by the time it gets to that point, the MSM will conveniently ignore that information and everyone will have forgotten about this whole thing.

There's a reason why so many of us in the thread are predicting this event will be thrown down the memory hole.

Even the Wikipedia article on the shooting is very vague, short in length, and there is talk of deleting the article and simply listing it on a general list of mass shootings, which is very telling if you ask me.

Usually when something like this happens, there's a full article on Wikipedia posted before the bodies even have a chance to get cold.

I kind of actually agree with you, but the media loves mass shootings no matter how short or insignificant they are. If it bleeds, it leads.

Mass shootings (or attempts thereof) are useful for the MSM, they usually provide a quick boost in ratings and usually help push an agenda or narrative.

Let's be real here, part of the reason why mass shootings seem to be more common nowadays is because of the MSM hyping them up and inspiring copycats.

Unfortunately, they've done it so often and for so long, people are growing numb to it and since this particular incident barely even had a death toll AND there's the fact that both perpetrators defy most of the common stereotypes and assumptions about mass shooters.

So they're going to do everything they can to sweep this under the rug once the dust has settled.

Between the identities of the shooters being problematic to the standard narrative and more importantly, the low casualty rate, this will likely be treated as the fairly unremarkable incident it should be treated as.

Hopefully, this will give the media a much needed push to stop sensationalizing mass shootings and maybe we'll see less copycats as a result.

I'll admit I am being optimistic, but we all know they're gonna sweep this incident under the rug as soon as the police sort out all the details and depending on how they memory hole this one and what kind of spin they put on it in doing so, then maybe the MSM will find some other issue to start fear-mongering over

They absolutely covered Tarrant’s childhood extremely quickly, I knew he lost his dad when he was youngthe day after the shooting and I only read maybe 3 articles. There were even reaction articles getting irate that people were humanizing him so quickly.
