My #1 guess it's going to be a very boring movie.

Nintendo's western branch is neutered to hell and back and it's the main reason why nintendo hasn't been able to really compete in the west since the n64. They get no input on what's appealing to americans.

They did make Splatoon though.

I actually think that the Robotnik redesign looks totally fine. Not perfect, but acceptable. Going for a 1:1 costume in a live action movie would've been absolutely awful in a modern setting. Shame everything else looks like complete shite.

This just screams abomination, sonic never casts a shadow, he is angeled wrong in places, he just has no expressions at all.
And those teeth, god damn it's far worse then I imagined.

I am not defending the existence of this movie.

But it's not unusual for CGI-heavy movies to release trailers before all the rendering is actually finished.

The red band trailers for It (Chapter One) & Logan come to mind as relatively recent examples of this.

Why would you make a live-action movie about a video game character whose last significant title was released 25 years ago?

If they made a CGI movie similar to the Toy Story trilogy it might actually work, especially with the original soundtrack but this looks like a rehash of that crappy Super Mario Bros. movie from the early 90's.
