Mass copyright claiming a shitload of videos from other content creators in an effort to silence them is hardly playing "Nice". If anything it's TRYING to piss off more people than ever and get himself even more hate than he's already gotten. His views are already in the toilet. Some of the videos he Content ID'd were years old and no longer getting many views. I highly doubt it's going to get him much money. Especially since he opted to block the videos completely in many cases.
It's most definitely about censoring his critics, at least in my opinion.

Youtube does nothing to those that abuse its system. That is why people are so comfy abusing it. If they did come up with some sort of repurcussions, they might be dragged to court for not allowing people to protect their hard earned cash (aka big labels slapping anyone they can willy nilly). Corporations with armies of lawyers are a bigger threat to YT's finances than some 100-500K subs channel that gets slapped with frivolous claims that are going to sue the one making those claims to begin with and not YT.

High risk versus low gain? Maybe yes, but he is up to his neck right now. Taking Greggy to court is very costly. Remember what H3 spent on his case? Repzion likely does not have that kind of money, neither does Blaire White. He probably thinks nobody will spend that kind of moolah over some videos that he can than get ad revenue off of worth 500 buck paypal. The real risk to him is the money not coming his way.

There is of course the very real possibility Repzion or White may get a succesful crowdfund going (I'd pay, fuck not pozloading my neghole in that case) or borrow the money somewhere to sue Onion on principle. In which case he does have an actual problem on his hands. And he will in al likelyhood try and spin it a certain way to try and get a bigass gofundme sum to fight online haters that now take him to court.

I am betting, he is betting, it will be a net positive result, whether he gets taken to court or not. He gets no attention, no problem, he gets attention, more people give him views. He does not get taken to court, no problem, he does get taken to court, just win, if he does not win keep excesss crowdfund cash. If any damages, pay it of with excess crowdfund cash, still got material for new videos and hopefully make national news, potential for the motherload of all Patreon bux. No. He doesnt have friends, at all. No guy friends, nothing. The only instance of him mentioning having a (male) friend was in his books, iirc only Stones to Abbigale. Davis was used as a sad attempt at comic relief while making James/Greg feel better about himself, he killed the dude off at the end of the book and used his funeral to have the dudes mom talk about how much of a great guy Greg was while he also had a speech about himself.

To be fair, he once had a male friend: Andy Biersack, Black Veil Brides singer.

It was a very short lived friendship that Biersack probably considered simply as a collaboration, especially seen the fact that he cut off all bridges with Greg as soon as Greg began showing himself for the narcissistic idiot he truly is.

So, after Biersack refused to acknowledge Greg and collaborate with him because he was on tour with his band, Greg pulled a tantrum similar to the ones he throws for Shane and insulted the singer, his whole band, his fans, and concluded with something like "You're stupid and ugly, gnegnegne!".

Also, this happened at the height of Greg's career, and everything came tumbling down a little after.
