Yes really.

I remember when Minecraft wasn't full of kids, there was no phantoms, 128 block limit, in alpha, good days.

I can smell the dumpster fire already. I say they just put it out of it's misery and put a sassy black trans woman as the main character, fill the script with woke metaphors, label the underworld portal as "The Gamergate" and have the plot be all about destroying those who support it from the darkness beyond.

At least then it might have a chance of being reviewed favorably by a couple online rags.

Why is it focusing on a teenage girl and not Steve? Also live action? Really? I fail to see how this game in particular could ever translate well, the blocks and building mechanics which make up a ton of the game won't work. This is either going to be Minecraft in name only with very little connection to the source material, or super cheesy.

I'm calling it now: it's going to be a high school romcom (with a hint of action) with a Nickelodeon cast, bland humor, safe plot and Minecraft terminology will be peppered here and there to justify the title (e.g. Minecraft High). Supernatural elements might be present. Think Dragon Ball Evolution, but with a bit more budget.

Up there speculation for fun: The "Ender Dragon" is a gamer club of white males that bully minorities in school.

Rotten tomatoes scores: 60% critics, 15~% audience

But will it have griefers and epic minecraft song parodies in it?
