Canada doesn't have gun rights. We have gun privileges. You need three separate background checks prior to purchasing a gun and government approval to transport the weapon directly from the store to your home. You then need different government approval to take your weapon to a shooting range. This approval can be revoked at any time by the national police service.
No automatics, and many semi-auto guns (including AR15s) are banned. If your gun is shorter than 24 inches, or the barrel is shorter than 18 inches it is illegal. If your weapon is magazine-fed, you can't possess a magazine that holds more than five rounds.
