I don't know about NZ but our emergency services (especially police and ambulance) use the same sirens and the sound used is more indicative of the urgency of the response than which service is approaching.
This still shows incompetence if true: Why would you roll up to an active shooting with your sirens on? And then not catch the guy speeding away with time to take pot-shots at bystanders.

Leaf land seems divided on the issue.

Like I said, they're revenue gatherers who seldom face anything real and when they do, civilians get shot in the crossfire or they shoot the wrong person...

Some of the guys reacting aren't wrong. How was the poll conducted? Things like that would say as much about the poll's results as the poll itself and if it's reliable.

This is not to say that the Chinese aren't assholes and they're all cute, friendly and fluffy, just remember that polls can be fudged quite easily. Remember how people dissected some of those Trump-Hillary polls? Wasn't there an option where the poller was asked about their opinion on Harambe or something that skewed the direction to be a lot more positive than negative. I remember something like that happening.

They maintain that there were police on the scene 6 minutes after the first call and that their Armed Offender Squad was their in 10.

While I get what you are saying, I live in Australia's largest city. The 3 closest LACs are each 15 minutes or more away from me, so by the time a 000 call is answered and cars are dispatched from any of them, it's going to be 10 minutes or more until they get here. There would only be a faster response if a car happened to be on patrol/attending an incident closer (and they frequently leave one incident to respond to a more serious incident).

In the city proper, it can be even worse because of traffic - there is literally nowhere for cars to pull over to make way for emergency vehicles.

In the end, a lot of it gets down to tax dollars. The metro response time could only be improved by having more cars on patrol and having LACs closer together, and our state governments not willing to pay for that (in fact they're doing the opposite with fire and ambulance and trying to consolidate them into larger stations farther apart to cut costs).

Ok. I think you are being too charitable, so let's look at this. Let's assume the first call was made right after he shot that chick and drove away. Let's assume there was simply a "guns shot, somebody injured" in the pipe to the cops. Let's also assume heavy traffic in a tiny place like Christchurch at 9/10 am on a friday (probably the deadest traffic time in any western countries city).

The first thing they should have caught was him speeding through the street on the north side of downtown. Post 911, there isn't an excuse for complacency. Everyone who gets on a plane since knows it. G?uaranteed Christchurch has tactical, and however funded, they know their job, and should have been immediately deployed in such a peaceful country when a "shots fired" call came in. It was lazy and incompetent across the board. Probably Chicago PD are far more incompetent in most ways, but that was an abysmal response time, having nothing to do with their funding. Funding more rollers wouldn't have helped a single thing, IMO.

EDIT: As soon as I posted, I realized Iwas an autistic fuck.

Its not the USA, they dont have a well trained swat team always ready.

That's their Armed Offenders Squad. They were there in 10 minutes, though there's no information about how the resources they had with them upon arrival.

I think people are failing to understand that the paramilitary ready to roll at a moment's notice thing is very much a thing in the US and other places which have had ongoing mass murders/terrorist attacks but it's not especially common in many places which haven't. It wouldn't even be affordable to give every LAC here that kind of capacity.

I mean we have a Tactical Operations Unit here, too, but they're best suited to responding to situations which are ongoing rather than those which are over and done with quickly. It's almost always going to be general duties police who respond first to even high risk situations here because even though the TOU is a 24/7 unit, it's still a support unit and its personnel and resources aren't spread out all over the place.

Don't know if its been covered since, but the censorship has showed up here in Australia, i am on a VPN just to get on the farms, same with 4chan, 8chan and i think liveleak.

That's likely true. I'm a Canada fag, and have witnessed it first hand on my neighbour's house. Apparently his wife called the cops with some shit about stockpiling weapons -- it was just divorce shit, he didn't even get in a cop car. Cps were very efficient and fast acting, so maybe it's an American/highly populated Canada/Paris/ Moscow/London thing....

I guess I just have naively assumed people who give a shit about this sort of thing... mass shootings and terrorism.... actually step up and go all in.

That newshub article on Null was hilarious. My favorite part was "In 2016 Moon was linked to several online threats involving children sending several schools into lockdown." Hahaha! What a fucking farce.

Edit: I just realized the article came out a couple hours ago, so here's the link in case it hasn't been posted yet.

I'm very confused on what they're trying to accomplish by getting every users info. 99% of posters here were either horrified, trying to figure out what was going on, or being complete edgelords with 7 min old accounts.

Also why are they trying to completely censor this? Wouldn't this horrific event be worth studying to try to mitigate/prevent similar ones from ever happening in the future?

IDK man, I just don't get it

It's starting to look more like they're just trying to block "problematic" sites in general, which is more worrying than them just trying to censor the video. I don't like the chances of any site which is currently blocked coming off the blocklist, no matter what Telstra said about it being "temporary".

On the news tonight buybacks of guns and amnesty announced. Also lots of talk about right wing extremism and it's honestly bullshit I have been around this country and there is hardly any of that shit I'vebeen around a lot of gangs here and none of them give a fuck about politics or race really it's all about the money and power. Usually in that order they are really using this thing to push some agenda

I have my own qualms about the under-trained/over-militarized SWAT forces in most places, as it is.

But you go to war with the army you have. If you don't have some elite counter-terrorism force at your disposal, you still dispatch whoever's closest. This wasn't exactly a sniper scenario. Even in the US, it's almost always beat cops who show up to spree shooters.

My guess is they want to slap every person they have jurisdiction over with a fine, or who the fuck knows, maybe they want to make an example out of more than just that one kid.

The censorship is certainly frightening, but like someone else said in response to you, it's more frightening that they are DNS blocking "problematic" websites, it's not just about the video anymore.

I miss the old internet, where Orgish and Stileproject were left to flourish and horrify millions of teens like myself at the time. Where you could shitpost and not worry about being arrested in places other than the US. Now I can add when memes didn't equal murder to my list of shit I miss about the internet.

Ironically, by pure co-incidence they had snipers at their disposal and they were deployed.

Gizmodo is running a story about the ISP bans.

Zerohedge is blocked, too. Presumably because they linked to KF in their article about Josh telling NZ Police to shove it.

My Guess Is A Small Handful Of People Will Take The Fall For Possession And Distribution But The "Government" Will Realize That It's Not Feasible To Jail Every Single Purveyor Of Said Media And Give Up. In Short They Are Gonna Come Out Strong And Give Up After A Week Of Realization That The Internet Is Larger Than Their Small Insignificant Nation.
