So, do you think that here might be a similar political reaction movement in the works? I'm curious as to the effect of the Internet on these alt-right movements . Obviously the Weathermen and the RAF didn't have forums where they could recruit potentials like people do today with the Chans and Voat and other places like that.

That's really the risk here honestly. The RAF and Weatherman Underground were very fringe movements that while they broadcasted recruiting materials, didn't have the ability to reach as many people. Especially not an environment that is already getting more and more fringy as time goes on.

There are thousands of people who saw Anders Breivik as a hero for shooting up that youth summer camp. There is evil in this world, and it is always unleashed by people who feel they have the best of intentions.

Another thing that gets me, and I'm sure people have said the same through-out the thread.. but jesusfuck.. WHY did it take so long for cops to respond? That part also really surprised me.

With multiple incidents, it's even more confusing for cops - especially because walking into a building with an active shooter is a nightmare for law enforcement officials the world over.

You might hit a civilian who's armed and trying to fight back, you might get ambushed by an unknown gunman, you might accidentally shoot someone who is panicking. This is a big part of the reason SWAT is a thing. To respond to this sort of thing, they've got to alert officers who might not even be on shift, get the people they can geared up, and try to cordon off the area to keep the shooters from escaping. All of that takes time.

Glad I'm not the only one thinking it. After seeing the video, the only way I can imagine others being involved is if a trio of unrelated randos jumped in when they heard about the shooting. The bizarre police statement about there being IEDs all over on multiple cars sounds like a pipe dream. More likely to me though is the police being so dumbfounded that their slow response allowed this guy to wreak so much havoc that they've witch hunted up a few others.
