Law Delaware state trooper appears to pull gun on driver in traffic stop, video shows - Officer pulls gun on driver within 7 seconds of routine traffic stop

Footage has recently come out about a routine traffic stop for speeding in which the state trooper pulls a gun on the motorist within the first 7 seconds of the incident. Personally, I think maybe police use of guns should be studied more; because police officers seem to go right to the lethal option too readily in the US.

More developments are sure to come, tho. Like the video from the Police Camera. The person stopped, Mack Buckley, did have a record including carrying a concealed weapon.

Delaware State Police are reviewing a video that appears to show one of its troopers pulling a gun on a driver during a traffic stop this month.

Mack Buckley, who is African-American, uploaded the minute-and-23-second video from Feb. 14 to Facebook of the trooper pulling the gun on him when he objected to the officer opening the door and telling him to get out of the vehicle.

"No, no, no. You cannot, you cannot pull me out of this," Buckley is heard saying to the officer right before the gun is drawn.

Buckley then repeatedly asks: "Why are you pulling a gun on me?"

The officer responds: "Stop reaching for s---. Hands on the car."

The video has been viewed more than 27,000 times since it was posted.

Buckley told NBC News on Wednesday that he could not speak about the incident until he has consulted with his attorney.

In the Facebook post, Buckley alleges he was pulled over for speeding, ticketed for resisting arrest and issued three traffic citations. He also claims he was not allowed to file a complaint against the officer at the police station after he was released on unsecured bond.

Police on Wednesday said Buckley was pulled over for speeding about 9:10 a.m. He was arrested after resisting arrest, speeding and driving without insurance and registration, officials said.

"The Delaware State Police initiated an internal investigation as soon as we became aware of the incident as per divisional policy," state police spokesman Sgt. Richard Bratz told NBC News.

He added that Buckley was transported to the station "without further incident."

On the video that Buckley posted, neither he nor the trooper can be seen after about halfway through, possibly after the point at which Buckley is out of the car.

The last words that can be heard are Buckley asking the officer why he is pulling a gun.

Buckley claims in his post that on the way to the station, the officer "kept referring to YOU PEOPLE."

When he asked the officer what he meant by "you people," he claims the officer responded "society" and told him, "Go ahead and play the race card."

DOVER, Del. (CBS/AP) — Delaware State Police say they are reviewing a traffic stop in which a trooper is seen on cell phone video pulling a gun on the driver. Forty-year-old Mack Buckley of Lincoln captured the Feb. 14 encounter on video and posted it on Facebook.

The trooper opened the car door after Buckley refused a command to get out of the car. The officer then drew his gun after Buckley continued to resist.

“The Delaware State Police initiated an internal investigation as soon as we became of the incident as per divisional policy,” Delaware State Police said in a statement.

Buckley is charged with resisting arrest, driving at an unreasonable speed, and failure to have insurance identification and registration. An arraignment is scheduled for March 18.

Court records show Buckley has an arrest record dating to 1999, with convictions for DUI, drug possession, maintaining a vehicle for keeping drugs, criminal impersonation and carrying a concealed deadly weapon.

Do I think the cop should have immediately pulled a gun on this dude? No, but given Mack's record and the potential he had a weapon on him it's not totally unjustified. Especially if this dude's record is for violent offenses.

A lot of what you all pointed out is why I was very careful in my OP to state that more will likely come out and to put the image in the OP.

The image makes this seemingly inane story, something much more. Just like it did with the Covington case and so many other stories recently.

I listed the priors, because those will certainly be a factor in the discussion as well. I will admit my bias, tho, on thinking cops go right to the gun more often than they should in the US.

Still if there is anything we've learned recently, no story is always what it seems.

If he is a State Trooper, you would hope for a car dashboard camera. Not having a camera of his own could seriously cause the trooper and the Delaware State Highway Patrol some very serious problems.
