The Punisher - Netflix's Show About True Equality in Killing People

This is you right now:

Meh, I'm over cape shit.

About 4 episodes in. I'm really liking Jigsaw. I was extremely worried after I saw his face, but holy shit I'm surprised how stellar they wrote him. It's genuinely tragic.

However, Madani is kinda worse this season. She was annoying in the first season but she's even more unlikable. It's a shame they couldn't fix her.

It’s not capeshit. Everyone in the show has a constitution of about 30, though.

None of the Netflix Marvel shows have pulled me in, but this thread made me want to go watch The Punisher.

I've given up on Marvel (as well as DC) because of all the posers. This includes TV shows.

I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything.

I hate all this superhero nonsense too, but Legion is fucking amazing television, man.

Frank walking in, listening to Russo's bullshit for a few seconds, then putting two in his chest and walking out without saying a word was fucking awesome.

That was fucking AMAZING. You think they're going to have this heart-felt speech, but even Curtis was so tired of the bullshit he just sent Frank instead. He didn't want to hear excuses. He did what he should have done.

What makes me REALLY REALLY sad knowing there won't be another series is that they set up Midani in the CIA, leading the way for the O'Brian story with him becoming 'The Punisher' at the end, gunning down both gangs, realizing this is who he is and what he wants.

I just finished Ep 10 of season 2 and while I'd rather like to watch the whole thing through before writing up my thoughts on it, one thing is kinda bugging me...

There was an article about the Punisher Skull being appropriated by the Alt-Right, and it stated that Frank would be "taking back" the Punisher logo from the Alt-Right in a way this season. That when he put his vest on, there'd be a reason he was doing it, leading me to believe that in the events between the first and second season that the antagonists adopted his emblem (Which sort of happened with the Russo's Valhalla gang, the white paint on the black masks they wore). But now after seeing why he donned his vest again, it was to confront Billy Russo for the first time this season to psychologically fuck with him. Is Billy Russo and the Valhalla crew supposed to be some Alt-Right stand-in? Because I thought that Pilgrim's people were supposed to be that. Or did the showrunners just want to promote the fuck out of the season? Either way, still a fucking good season so far.

No, it was obvious they were just fluffing the media from the beginning because (MAJOR ENDING SPOILER)

The alt-right, ex-Nazi villain is made sympathetic and lives.

Feels like them chickening out, having it turn out that Frank’s bullets didn’t kill those hostages. The scene where he discovered the bodies was probably the most gut-wrenching moment to come out of all these shows, and then they walk it back almost before it has time to really develope as an internal conflict for Frank. They should’ve committed to it.

Wait, what? I didn't expect that

Also to anyone who might be making the mistake, The Punisher is NOT capeshit

Última edición:
All in all the ride was pretty great. I’m still dissapointed that they teased us with the idea that Frank was tricked into killing civilians them immediately backpedaled, and I think the simultaneous stories were interesting enough to be seperate seasons, but yeah, that was a solid program. Everything else about it works. And it has the rewatchability that Daredevil pulls off but the others can’t quite capture.

Pro tip: once you get to episode 4 or 5 just skip every fucking scene with the psychologist and Billy talking to the psychologist. It's fucked up how they botched Jigsaw so badly this season.

This is Jigsaw and not some whiny bitch with "Muh amnesia!" Fuck that.

My criticism of a lot of the Marvel Netflix shows is that they try to stretch it out for 13 episodes and it just drags.

The one exception is Daredevil which managed to be pretty solid throughout and didn't feel like it was filled with padding. The worst offender of this is probably Jessica Jones. Season 2 had so many stupid detours, I start fast forwarding when certain characters came up because I knew it would be dead space.

The Punisher season 1 had moments where it was AWESOME, but also moments where it felt like it was padding (Microchip's family drama for example).

But from what I'm hearing, Season 2 is really flipping good and it is great to hear that Jigsaw is great. I'll have to check it out.

Frank Castle's super-power is that he never kills innocent people. That's actually an integral part of the character.

where was the "wokeness" everyone was whining about

It wasn't there. "Oh, our villain is an ex-white supremacist who is Christian." = "PUNISHER VILLAINS ARE ALL WHITE ALT RIGHT CHRISTIANS"
