"Current year" terms that piss you off

Nobody who says these things is aware of the fact that the vast majority of sex workers did not enter the trade voluntarily.

In this context, I support the disuse of both 'whore' and 'sex worker' and support the use of 'sex slave' instead. Words like whore, hooker, prostitute and sex worker make it sound voluntary.

"Person of Color" exists just for that purpose.
No it does not, it was planted by a troll to get SJWs to make themselves look bad and they flew away with it.

I'm still pissed about people responding to arguments with just calling out only the logical fallacies of the argument (e.g. "ad hominem") without addressing what is actually wrong with the argument.

I mean, logical fallacies are decent guidelines to see the weaknesses of arguments, but without pointing out what is actually wrong with these said arguments you're just being annoying and unconstructive.

“Living my best life” I’ve only ever seen it been used by desperate thots who justify another night of drinking and hopping on some random guy’s dick.

This is long, but I keep thinking of ones not mentioned yet...

"CIS"

Especially how the troons try acting out the whipping post scene from Roots with it. "We gave you this name! It's your name now! You're gonna call yourself CIS! And you're gonna like it!"

Seems to be backfiring though, people hear CIS and think "genuine, stable, someone you can start a family with etc" not "boring, privileged and evil" or whatever the troons insist. That and I've seen a few people use it as an acronym for "Comfortable In Skin" as in not mentally ill and insecure.

"Colorblind" as an insult.

I was raised to look past skin color and judge on character. I was raised wrong. The reason I don't see everything as a racial issue is because apparently I'm overprivileged to the point I can ignore race. I've been told MLK was wrong because he was from a different time and didn't have to deal with the sort of oppression today's PoCs in America face.

"People-first Language" in general.

Person of color is somehow fine, but colored person isn't. Person with autism is okay, but Autistic person is somehow ableist.

"Bullied to death"

Kid gets picked on and commits suicide dies from suicide? Nope, they were bullied to death. Honestly, any adult who uses "bullying" for anything that isn't kids picking on each other bugs me. Your mom isn't bullying your 30 year old ass by telling you to get a job and stop playing vidya, etc.

"SLAM/SLAMS/SLAMMED"

Massively overused by every lefty news outlet. Usually about Trump or other wrongthinkers. All the headlines are some variant of "Trump SLAMMED for existing!", "Twitter SLAMS racist Nazi Trump!" Seriously, think of a new word.

"SPEWING/SPEWS HATE"

Lefty media term for someone arguing against the narrative or just expressing a conservative opinion. Don't like drag kids? You're "SPEWING HATE against the LGBTQIAP++ community." Again, find a new word.

"Right to exist"

Another troon one. Somehow, questioning their motives in any way (trooning children, restrooms, etc) is debating muh right to exist. And it's always used with "debating." "Muh right to exist is NOT up for debate, cis scum!"

"8th grade understanding of biology."

If you question any part of troon ideology or genderspecialness, you'll quickly be accused of having an 8th grade understanding of biology. And it's ALWAYS 8th grade. I wonder where all these people went to high school that freshman year introduced them to troonery? Mine didn't teach that.

To be fair, if you're using an ad hominem there really probably isn't much of an argument to fight anyway.

Well it depends. What I’m most annoyed for this case is people usually treats all personal attacks are “ad hominem” which of course, it’s false.

I see what you mean, like if you insult someone and then make your argument. But then that's not really an ad hominem either, in an ad hominem, the personal attack is the argument.

The big problem I have is when people don't explain exactly what part is the fallacy. Just saying somethings is a strawman isn't enough you exactly have to say what exact part of the argument is a strawman.

salty and toxic are real kiddie insults i only hear Russian squeakers on tf2 free item servers use. they sicken me

It's kind of silly, but I cringe every time I read "They/this person." I can understand using it in a context where you legitimately do not know who the hell is on the other end, but it's used so often nowadays that it's annoying as shit. You could put up a photo of a very obvious woman, and woke folx would still call her a "they" and refer to her as "this person."

Also, "I'm not a boy/girl thx" is fucking stupid as shit and is always used by transtrenders.

I feel like the word "harassment" has lost all meaning too. Like every other day there's an "online harassment campaign" against the celebrity of the day which only refers to a small group of mean comments that can be easily blocked. The horror.
I also dislike 'sex worker' because people who sell feet pics on Twitter or whatever use it to describe themselves and start talking about what it's like to be a 'sex worker', which really obfuscates the experiences of those actually selling themselves on corners/in brothels.

I can't stand the 'people-first language' crowd. Saying 'a disabled person' or 'an autistic person' isn't defining someone by their disability any more so than 'a Japanese person' or 'a gay person' or 'a blonde person' is defining someone by their nationality/sexual orientation/hair color, it's just how adjectives work in English. And I've seen a lot of autistic people online get shouted at for describing themselves as such.

That’s part of the reason why I have such starkly mixed feelings on terfs/radfems; they probably push the “kill all men” rhetoric harder than any other faction, but at the same time I have a lot of respect for their hardline defense of specifically female biology (as opposed to trans activist rhetoric) and acknowledging that selling yourself as a piece of meat has to be the most disempowering and degrading job there is.

I hate the term sex worker too. You're a ho' honey. That's it. Don't sugar coat it. It might be the world's oldest profession but it's not a respectable career path.

SJWs don't like how English works. but their attempts to twist the language just make it a mess for everyone else. Can't wait for them to die off.

It doesn’t have to be either/or, I despise radfems and trannies alike. Both groups actively hinder progress in society but in their own special ways.
I wouldn’t say that I chose one over the other, I’m just pointing out the one I probably hate less.
"Oof" and "rip" are quite popular with the kids right now. Kids have such terrible tastes.
”oof” comes from the roblox death sound I think. It’s kinda funny, though

Nobody mentioned "lived experience" yet? 'Cause it needs to be on the list as just another synonym for "complete bullshit but it happened to me so it's unassailable."

Fuck it, I'm sick of hearing "live services" too even if it's not on topic. It's just the Software as a Service idea that nobody wanted five years ago coming back with a new coat of paint.

All of the English terms that I dislike have already been listed in this thread at some point, so I'll list one Swedish "current year" term which I hate in particular (although, truth to be told, there are a lot): the newspeak term for "disability", AKA"funktionsvariation" (literally "function variety") as opposed to "funktionshinder" (literally "function obstacle"). How the fuck is shit like being paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair a "variety"? Even disabilities which may be used to one's advantage in certain scenarios (like ADHD and Aspergers) still entail a lot of disadvantages. That's not going to change just because you call it a "variety" instead of an "obstacle".
