The left size appears to be the work of one artist so I selected the entire left side to be edited at once (you can see where the pink of their typical pink blog was caught in the crossfire). The entire selection was darkened and saturated equally. I have taken color selections from other parts of the body as well. The black parts of her outfit still being the right shade when correcting for skin color is the biggest nail in this shitty coffin.

It is clear to see that the original images have all been through a filter that desaturates and brightens the image for an ~aesthetic~ effect. It's not uncommon at all for these kind of cutesy doodles.

Why is Marina's face so much more... detailed? The difference is kind of jarring. A lot of Tumblr artists, I've noticed, put in a lot more detail/break style when drawing black characters. Maybe because they code all faces as white by default, and thing pee oh see need extra markers?

Damn, we're doing this shit again? I never thought I'd see another Pearl takedown since the last incident, but I guess I was wrong.

I'm not surprised at this point that these artists don't have a good grasp on color theory. To them, if you don't use the exact" eye-dropper tool" colors it's automatically racist by default. And sadly, this mentality does turn people away from making newer characters of different ethnicities. Who would want to deal with this crap after being hounded insults and being told your racist?

Ah. Tumblr. Always complaining about the "same body type" for women yet somehow turning iconic the characters into samey greyish-brown blobs.

Dead center in the sampling examples I'm 99% sure is gomipomi, who's been caught in this bullshit before and had the most reasonable reaction to it so far. They're also one of the best Splatoon/2 fanartists out there.
