Sad news, kiwis: no court tomorrow. Greg's lawyer finally talked him into settling the case rather than fighting it. He's rolled over and has agreed to let the government fuck him at their pleasure, because the evidence they had of his destruction of the wetlands was overwhelming.
Email about the case settling:
Settlement agreement, where Greg has 14 days to hire someone to plan to fix his fuckups. How he's going to find an environmental expert who wants to take this case on over Christmas, i have no idea. But hiring the expert is just one step in this incredibly expensive process: after he buys the plan and the expert's time, he needs to also buy all the replacement plants, including multiple mature, native trees. and pay the county to do all the restoration work.
No word about the fines yet, but I doubt they waived all of them.
Edit: the settlement says that if Greg holds up his end of the agreement, they won't continue to fine him during the period that he's abiding by this agreement. So his fines will apply to each day between Sept 6 - Dec 19. So he is on the hook for 104 days of violating the stop work order. His minimum fines from Pierce County are $208,000, not including the costs of fixing his fuck up (lawyer, expert's time, a plan to correct, the plants, and the actual restoration - he will not be allowed to do the work himself.)
