Culture YouTube releases it's YouTube Rewind for 2018

  • Iniciador del tema Iniciador del tema Null
  • Fecha de inicio Fecha de inicio
Usually these things are masturbatory self-indulgences for the YT community featuring a lot of e-celebs. They start off with PewDiePie declaring "YEAR REWIND" and then showing some dumb shit for the fans.

This one
  • Starts with Will Smith (who isn't a YouTuber).
  • Has Ninja (who isn't a YouTuber).
  • A Fortnite gag.
  • No PDP because he said the word NIGGER.
  • A bunch of people no one cares about.
  • An entire two minute long scene celebrating diversity, women, and non-whites.
  • Locked chat with the people in the video watching it together and live commenting with the most cringe inducing shit I've ever fucking seen.
Currently it's at about 70% dislikes and sinking. The comments are tearing it to shit. For all the talk of diversity, one commenter from Brasil pointed out that there are no Brazilian YouTubers present. Sorry menino, you faggots don't wear hijabs and don't hate Trump enough. Better luck in 2019.

I think I'm going to follow nool's lead and make a nice big vat of borscht and get a huge bottle of vodka. If I'm going to be Russian I might as well enjoy it.
I have a feeling we'll all eventually need to join Josh in Eastern Europe, might as well start preparing now.

These rewinds are just cringy as fuck and nobody knows who the fuck they're.

I've never watched one because I don't watch popular Youtubers. They tend to annoy me.

Will Smith apparently became a YouTuber this year.

I don't even know what YouTubers are anymore.

It's totally corporate. Youtube is full corporate now. Broadcast yourself somewhere else.

Now that it's the most disliked video in YouTube History, will YouTube even react? I have a hunch that they'll still pretend there's no massive consumer backlash against them

I can't remember the study accurately, but the group of people who most dislike shopping at WalMart are the people who do nearly all of their shopping there. I think it's going to be the same with the downvoters, they'll be the ones with the highest time spent on the site.

It has been said that to YouTube a down vote is pretty much the same as an upvote. It's still engagement.

All the views, the downvotes and the angry comments are all converted to money in the bank for Google. They're pretty much in a can't lose situation so they're going to carry on doing exactly what they want as long as they can. Pretty much the only danger they face is a myspace situation where the customers just change what they want and bail. I just can't imagine how that can happen given the nature of YT.

On the subject of YouTube TV I don't see it as a shift in the whole platform, I see it as YouTube trying to build their own Netflix and then probably their own film studio. They might fail on this and lose billions on it, but it's a bet they can afford to lose without a worry.

Which all begs the question whether the Govt should be stepping in to break up Google.

Which all begs the question whether the Govt should be stepping in to break up Google.
Well, that is an interesting question. Another one would be: does the government want to break up Google? The US government is partially responsible for creating Google in the first place and definitely has used it many, many times, so why kill your golden goose? Oh? The puppet has turned into the puppet-master? Well, still...

Google isn't technically a monopoly just yet and is safe from anti-monopoly laws, but like the rest of Silicon Valley, it is part of a cartel of technology companies being steered by people with a very clear political ideology. We've seen evidence of this time and again, most glaringly with the purging of Alex Jones and again with Patreon having it's own little purge of conservative thinkers. Regardless of what you think of Sargon or Milo, you have to admit that what happened to them was wrong. Nevermind all the leaked info that clearly shows that Google is driven by a very clear bias and consider themselves to be the gatekeepers of information, ensuring only the "right" info is allowed to seen. We're seeing the Silicon Valley Cartel acting once again to kill any competition. Twitter did it with Gab. Patreon is now doing it with SubscribeStar.

Of course Google wants to expand as far as it can, especially in the realms of news and entertainment. That's how a lot of people get the information they use to form their opinions. Until now, the internet has been a wild west, as many have said. That's how Trump got elected. Too many people were allowed access to the "wrong" information. It was too easy to see the bullshit being dished out by the MSM.

Supporting someone doesn’t necessarily equal liking them.

yeah, but i'm not sure what he needs defending from. dude put his foot in his mouth and paid the consquences (which were...internet liberals calling him racist? a tiny dip in subscribers? disney deal which was entirely his to lose?), why tf are people crying for justice? oh no he didnt get into youtubes big gay christmas card, boo hoo poor baby

If you don’t like censorship and you like free speech.

How is he being censored tho? Because people objected to something he said and criticized him for it? Because he lost an entertainment contract? Pewdiepie is one of the least censored people ever, you can't avoid that fucker. Whoever's trying to censor him is doing a pretty fucking bad job of it.

“Your honor, I admit I tried to kill my wife, but since I am not good at it, I should go free.”

this is super gay, but i'd like to reiterate that pewdiepie is also a giant faggot and it's embarrassing to like him after your balls have dropped
Dude, you’re free to not like Pewdiepie, you don’t have to go all tryhard about it.

Can someone explain to me why the fuck there's so many asians?

Is Youtube huge in Korea? I thought they had niconicodouga or whatever the hell.

Is Youtube somehow the hotbed of k-pop the way the wwe is huge in the middle east?
If I had to guess, it's probably a mix of Koreaboos, but also that Korean labels post things officially there and don't DMCA everything else into oblivion, while the RIAJ nukes any recent Japanese music uploads into oblivion. Korea-based sites also require everybody to verify their Korean ss#, so I can understand why Koreans would migrate to US-based sites to retain just a smidgen of privacy. China has their own private ghetto of sites.
