I've seen some screencapped shit in callouts that made me want to scrub my eyes with bleach. And honestly, it doesn't matter if they claim to be "no contact" if they're still admitting to it in public. I got drawn into the "anti-shipping" mess because someone I follow was being harassed over Shiro/Keith, and I was actually pretty shocked to find out about the "MAP" community. All the false claims over cartoon ships were being screamed over the top of the real issue, which is disturbing. The people screeching the loudest about pedophilia are more concerned about their precious cartoons than the exploitation of children.

Just please don't prioritize fiction over real abuse (kids are more important than drawings), hold it on the same level as real abuse (which trivializes the issue, is insulting to victims, and makes it harder for valid claims to be taken seriously), or let it be an excuse for abuse (as that's scapegoating, and obscures the underlying problems contributing to the behavior). And just be aware that, aside from the MAPs and other literal pedophiles, a LOT of innocent teenage girls drawing characters their own age are getting caught in the crossfire.

Shit, I didn't know what "MAP" was, or that it had a community till this incident happened. Shows you how much I was following Tumblr. There were only a few fan artist and porn artist blogs I followed, who suddenly, in unison, started screaming about Tumblr taking down blogs and how they might have to setup alternate sites for their work or redirect their followers to their sites. Now all I'm trying to figure out is how it all got to this point and how it got his bad. Makes me wish that the insane tumblrinas and SJWs were Tumblr's only problem.

When it comes to anti-shippers, generally the claims of "it's pedophilia/abuse/etc!" are just excuses to cover for the fact that the real reason they hate X ship is something much more shallow, like the ship gets in the way of their favorite ship or is het or some shit. For example most of the anti-Sheith people are Klance shippers (a rival ship) that have no problems with porn of their ship despite one of the characters actually being underage. The shipping thread in community watch has many other examples.

I still think that Tumblr admins are just incompetent as fuck and the non-CP blogs that were deleted weren't deleted intentionally.

The thing with MAPs is that half the site straight up wants them to die gruesomely. Even the diehard "Castrate all white male babies" feminists would bloodeagle a pedophile of any race or sex even if they never touched a child. There's a civil war in the making over this, as even Leftists have standards, funnily enough.

So what's the aftermath of this looking like?

So far things have been business as usual on my end as I did not follow that many NSFW blogs.

Personally, I dont think the purge is gonna affect tumblr as badly as ppl think it is. Tumblr's other main export, being a hub for SJWs and teens shipping cartoon characters, should keep it a float.

As another note, seems only ppl who were SOLELY/mostly NSFW blogs are complaining. Most people on tumblr seem to be happy or indifferent, even those who have mainly sfw and a nsfw blog on the side.

To be honest, I think the aftermath to this is going to be a gradual decline rather than a immediate collapse.

While so far it looks like the nsfw blogs were the ones most effected, there's definitely been some notable changes made that effect artists across the board - notably that posts with any sort of links, even in-site links, are now completely un-searchable through Tumblr's search engine. Which is definitely going to hurt artists in the long run since a lot of people cross post or sell their works on different platforms, both sfw and nsfw.

There's also the matter that Tumblr's algorithm is specifically targeting nsfw and nsfw-related language to an almost absurd degree, which might not seem like a big idea now but leaves Tumblr vulnerable to a lot of loopholes that could be exploited. For one, I imagine were going to see a whole new crop of "fandom discourse" when r34 artists because there's now no longer any incentive to include any sort of nsfw tags when it renders their work invisible to everyone but their pre-existing followers, and fandoms have always had a weird "peas touching the mashed potatoes" level of anal when it comes to how fanbase tags are used. And as far as I can tell this hasn't actually done anything to curb the issue of porn bots, since a) it probably won't take long for porn bots to slip under the radar by changing what tags are used, and b) their main modus operandi of bots tends to be more about auto-following and auto-messaging, neither of which seem to have been addressed. Hell, I already see people making jokes how despite this "purge" they're still getting porn bots following and liking random posts. That's not even getting into how the hell Tumblr's going to manage if another 4chan raid happens where regular sfw tags get spammed with porn and gore en masse.

My prediction is Tumblr will likely experience a very slow drop in user activity as people find the number of hoops they have to jump through when it was already pretty difficult to get noticed to begin with what with how the interface was set up, they'll slowly migrate towards the outlets where they seem more successful until eventually they stop posting to Tumblr all together, possibly followed by fantards when it becomes clear Tumblr's actual reporting/moderation system hasn't changed a bit and they can't just ban every innocuous tag that porn artists post under, and then when all the r34-ers and the artistically inclined have jumped ship (if they haven't already) it'll be mostly bots and people who like to get into internet slap fights. So... business as usual with less art I suppose.

I doubt the things being implemented now are going to stay. They actually had an issue a while back where tags related to the LGBT community were unsearchable, and they eventually fixed that. They'll likely restore hyperlinks eventually as well. Everything's been blasted right now while they try to deal with the bots and cp. Given how much they stand to lose, Yahoo is probably pouring on the pressure for them to fix everything. Maybe they'll bring in people who actually know what the fuck they're doing.

How big of a decline depends on if they completely get rid off nsfw blogs or not (I've heard you can request ur blog back if you were legal, but I have yet to see any confirmations.)

If they do entirely ban any NSFW: They will lose a significant amount of people and the only appeal they had to outside users. But the core fanbase will still be in tact

If this is just a temporary and incompetent way of them banning actual cp to which they eventually return all the innocent NSFW blogs: Then nothing really changes and the world goes on.

The only way I see a true massive shitstorm/exodus (e.g Neogaf) is if Tumblr manages to screw over artists and/or bans politics as those are basically the lifeline of tumblr.

It might also depend on whether or not Tumblr actually learned their lesson on this not just being a matter of people posting that content, but also their reporting and management system being such utter garbage that reporting anything was such a massive hassle, and often ineffective or even counterproductive. If they haven't and decide to roll back the nsfw bans, then there's nothing stopping history from repeating itself and app stores pulling out once again.

Newgrounds is way too deep into their own brand of utter insanity to EVER let the tumblrinas control them. It be like if the Tumblrinas tried to migrate to KF; they'ed run away SCREAMING. Newgrounds has always been a no-fucks-given kind of place, and a few Tumblr refugees ain't going to change that. Hell, if their NSFW artists, chances are, they will fit right in.

SJW types wouldn't set foot in Newgrounds. Newgrounds allows games and animations that are sexually explicit, as well as not politically correct. As you said, displaced NSFW artists will fit in just fine, while the toxic types will be put off by the lack of censorship/control they can exert over content creators. Tumblr staff is vague and apathetic. Newgrounds mods are not.
 
Should check and see how some personal PITAs are reacting to this, it might be gold.
