Okay so, it's no secret that I'm somewhat more sympathetic to the angry neckbeards than to the shrieking tumblrinas. But shatfarty has a point, nobody here is posting the autistic retardation from the pro-gg side of the slapfight. Can sympathise just a bit with one of the last points in the first bit though: it's so aggravating to see characters that SHOULD be praised by people supposedly concerned about representation just getting ignored. Probably because they contradict the sjws merely by existing.

Fun fact: I remember when I was still oblivious to the rise of social justice or the issues with Anita Sarkeesian, after seeing her first whinefest about how Mario hates women or something I actually sent a naive, polite little pm to someone who claimed to want "discussion" about whether any of the examples of stronger female characters would be brought up (like say, Wendy, Captain Syrup, even Peach had her moments)

of course it was ignored. Some discussion, eh?

EDIT: Soooo... other than Gawker losing yet another advertiser, anything else noteworthy happen?

Some news across the board:

1. KotakuInAction's begun a splinter project to support gamers with minor disabilities by giving colorblind options, the ability to change fonts, and so on. They recently got Steam Curator status and are supporting games with such options. They also maintain a list of hardware for disabled people. I think that's pretty cool.

2. A fascinating thread is going around /gg/ from several people from 2chan, explaining that the fight we're going through with our media now is pretty much identical to one that was fought in Japan some time ago. Essentially, Otakus were being misrepresented by the Japanese mainstream gaming press, with one site in particular cherry-picking in order to fit an agenda. Those complaining about this nonsense were, like Gamers were in the US, labelled persona non grata in much the same way gamers were, and were given the moniker "kenmo" by their opponents (essentially meaning "someone who hates profit). TL;DR - the mods of 2ch were found to be corrupt and in the tank for this nonsense, much like Moot was. They essentially drove them from the site, but they're fight is still going on to this day. What we're facing here in Games Journalism is one aspect of a much bigger - and in fact international issue.

Well that explains why in Warframe the most recent content patch included resource locker overhauls that would make it easier for colorblind people to tell if lockers could be opened or not. Previously it was just green and red lights, but now it's green and red lights in a simple "circle with line through the middle" patterns that, depending on the orientation of the middle line (vertical = openable, horizontal = locked), say if you can get stuff from the locker or not.
 
Love the idea of helping those with disabilities, some of those things like font size mods and other stuff for the colourblind would be great!
Though the pessimist in me predicts people will still get up in arms about it ala TFYC.

Someone's got up a tumblr to screencap/archive instances of harassment within the movement. I think it's all coming from the anti-GG side that's included though. If I Find one for GG-related harassment then I'll let you guys know since the bad eggs are still worth knowing.

The Guardian has posted a new piece on how great Leigh Alexander is! Megaladon is a strong and bold woman who ain't scurred of nothin. Bingo cards out:
  • "a small, vocal minority"
  • "bullying against female writers under the guise of a campaign about ethics"
  • "gamers who cannot deal with the transition of this medium to the mainstream"
  • "It challenges the anonymous, high-octane masculinity they feign"
  • "They don’t want the growing number of female gamers to have more of a say in what they’re playing"
  • "This is what sexism looks like in the 21st century"
Oh yeah, and one other thing...

The author of this piece, Tech Editor Jamima Kiss, sent out emails to her staff telling them to not cover Gamergate in any light that might be flattering. She also invited Leigh Alexander to the guardian to give them instructions on how to handle this.

Or maybe they don't want frauds and psychos like that one who came up with "castration day" having a say in anything, ever and would like for them to fuck off forever.
I mean, considering how many women also support GG... and how they're treated by the supposed guardians of the wimmins for said support.

Oh, and also the support for TFYC that came pretty much entirely from GG and 4chan which basically wanted to get female gamers to have a bit more clout in the industry... that the anti-GG's precious Quinn tried to sabotage for her own gain. So misogyny~

I think this quote says plenty too:
