The response to the MOAB was more asinine than the Syrian strikes in a lot of ways. At least Syria actually had the potential for serious political ramifications, with the MOAB it was just straight up used as an excuse to shit on the military as well as spread fear and misinformation.

In their immediate and constant sperging about "muh gibs" the $300 million spent on this one bomb could have gone to if it weren't for Drumpf (dispite the program being funded, completed and mothballed since the early Bush administration) the talking heads didn't even bother to check with anyone who had even the slightest knowledge of it.

Only after the event was forgotten were a couple of written articles edited with clarifications stating that in their rush to tell the world their informed and completely original insights on US military spending they had failed to check where the $300 million figure even came from and had inflated the costs of this one bomb to nearly 20x the total cost of the entire MOAB program and by over 1500x the per unit cost.

usa today also tweeted an infographic saying the MOAB was 11 tons TNT, comparing it to the hiroshima bomb, which was labeled 15 tons TNT.
