Phil can't get a job because there are no jobs in his sector.

As I remember he described his duties at the helicopter company. Customers would call him when they needed a helicopter part. He would then check if they had the part in stock, if another place has one they can get, or if they would need to have one made.

What sector would you say this falls into, because to me it sounds like the same thing the grease monkey at the auto parts store does all day.

I would say this is a basic customer service job. It's not like he was out in the shop on a lathe creating the parts or using a program designing them. I doubt he was part of a union.

Even if his online funds dried up to the point that a bottom-rung job would be better income, Phil still wouldn’t do it. This is the same manchild who thinks the world owes him a gated condo and upper middle class lifestyle for being an incompetent YouTuber for 10 yrs. He’d sooner move back in with his parents than actually work to earn his keep.

Given the choice he would move back in with his parents and go on welfare. He'd try to get disability too.

These are the jobs Phil has had as far as I know. They might not be in the correct order.

Worked at a health food store "tossing salads". High school job.

Worked at Best Buy allegedly as some sort of business technology advisor but was really just customer service. Got fired for using his employee discount to run for profit gaming tournaments.

Sold life insurance as an unpaid intern only making commission. Quit and told the company to fuck off when they told him he had to pay for the resources he used. Listed them as a reference for further jobs.

Loan manager at a scam company called Wells Fargo. Left or got fired for fighting with management over company policies.

Helicopter factory. Answered phones and put in orders. Terminated because the new vice president restructured the company.

CEO of Burnell Enterprises. Invented Let's Plays and revolutionized the internet.

No idea because it counts as a view even if they only watch enough of the video to see one ad. If every video gets watched fully I don't think it's unreasonable to assume he's getting $6-12 CPM to keep the income the same as short videos.

part of the reason i never went pro in a game, just didnt seem like the kind of life i wanted. and the sad thing is. another decade or so, and that number may even be larger. as more and more people stick to this way of life, trying to cling to it by begging to children rather than deciding that its over for them and its time to move on and get a job. its almost a pity to watch

I think that's what turns quite a few people off from streaming games full time or going pro. Nobody wants to make their hobby a soulless job to pay rent, unless they're REALLY into it.

That would explain why he specifically mentioned RDR2, because the views are a little higher than he normally manages, but definitely not astronomically. But if the CPM for them is better, he would definitely notice the money. Especially given that he's under 900K views for the last 30 days.

It's almost sad that we no longer have a good idea of what his YouTube income is now since that change might have a huge impact. Maybe he'll drop various hints that we can combine into a solid estimate again.

Perhaps so. Maybe someone can get in touch with a Youtuber with a similar following (in terms of views) who is also playing RDR2 and ask them? Sorta like someone did with the AC Odyssey bounty stream that gave us a better idea of how much Phil probably got.
