Money Update 9/23/2014 - Chris Makes a Kickstarter

I was so hopeful after seeing the thread title that he would've started a new issue of the comic but no, just a unrealistic goal for a product only Chris gets to 'benefit' from (:_(.

Even if he does get to building it after weens give him the money
Like many have said already, this isn't going to succeed. It's not like the Medallions or commissions where you actually get something made by him, with this Kickstarter you're just giving him legos to play with and any "backer rewards" are just legos you buy from him at an exorbitant rate.

I don't really know Kickstarter. If you make a pledge, is there any way to take it back? The reason I ask is because there's a part of me that's hoping some weens pledge hundreds of dollars, the goal gets met and they lose their money. It'll be an important lesson for everyone except Chris.

EDIT: Chairman Meow managed to answer my question before I'd finished posting it. I love the Internet.
Thats the beauty of it. Its trivial to take it up and build his hopes up then ignite the shitstorm by pulling out the bids and taking "his" money.

I'd also like to point out that he completely does not grasp the concept of what kickstarter is supposed to be. Sure, a lot of people abuse it like Chris is trying to but those people don't have a legitimate outlet where they could make money on the site like Christian does. Typically there's two kinds of kickstarters that people support 1) charity ones where you're donating to help a cause or 2) ones where you're donating to get something you want like an album from an independent artist, a video game, or dare I say, new issues of Sonichu.

If he would have made the kickstarter to relaunch Sonichu instead of trying to make it a charity case of helping him build his autistic dream then a whole lot more people would contribute.

It's bad and people will claim I'm A-Log but I'm kind of disappointed he got any money at all. I wanted to see a Facebook rage post because no one donated a red cent.

Dont worry mate, he doesnt have any money. The project's goal is 5,000$. If he doesnt reach this amount all the money will back to the "investors"

While we are all aware of that, the question is how aware Chris is of that. He could very well see contributions as "money in the bank" and go on some wacky Lego binge.

Not that it matters too much since his little project is likely going to get taken down by Kickstarter. It's in violation of several of the site's guidelines, particularly the ones regarding rewards.

Don't worry. The project probably won't stay on Kickstarter for the entire project length, due to him breaking the guideline about not selling or offering rewards that weren't created by him. Kickstarter doesn't play around with this rule at all, so the project will likely get closed soon. If that happens, we'll probably see a Facebook post about it. Maybe.

Its like constantly giving money to someone addicted to crack cocaine, they are not using that money to change their life, you gave them more money for crack!
Yes, I agree. I'm curious if Chris realizes he needs to start managing his money properly. Because I hate seeing people who help both him and his mother, only to see their money not go to good use.

This is just pure greed here, I'm not surprised, but I am a little surprised that people are giving him money this time. At least in the past, he needed money due to an accident, and although Chris has trouble expressing himself, yeah, he seemed grateful. I could even understand a kickstarter for new videos or new comics, (but I wouldn't agree with it), but here, guys, you're not getting anything. Unless you're doing it to get his hopes up, I see no reason to pledge anything.

Kickstarter, eBay, selling junked cars, tugboats, asking for donations following his house catching on fire . . . I hate to say it, but in lieu of not having a job, Chris is actually proving somewhat adept at begging.
