Cons/events generally will let it be known when someone has behaved like a fuckwit and it will generally lead to a black marking of that person or group. There's not a ton of people out there willing to take on the organising of big cons or events and they tend to talk to one another in their own little "organiser community".
Contrariwise if someone is legit chill, helpful or useful to the event/con generally they will find their standing among these folks going up, with offers for better spots etc.
So yes, Chris will have been a bit of an "experiment gone wrong" and it will probably get about that he was far too grabby towards attendees without consent which tends to be a big no no for these events. Mostly because the event locations have reputations to defend themselves as a safe and secure space for attendees and exhibitors alike.
