Ah, pride season. I don't mind it honestly. But this pride art is still pretty bad and seeing a resurgence of horrible LGBT head canons and "'''pride''' makes my head spin. The fact is that during this time of the month some of these people become so damn annoying it's not even funny. People literally go on to say to support pride and shit, but the other day they were telling straight people to die and that your __phobic because they don't believe in your __gender/ sexuality. It's ridiculous.

I think the main reason why pride art annoys me so much is not just that hypocrisy but the overcompensation. A lot of these people seem to treat the LBGT community as either a club to gate keep to hell and back or as "wittle angels who need to be protected at all costs UWU". It's ridiculous with the amount of infantilization I've seen in the past few days alone. And I think the art perfectly represents that.

Let's face it, a majority of pride artwork sucks. It's sucks super hard. So much it could put any other mediocre artist to shame. If it isn't pandering to the lowest common denominator, it's horribly drawn and stylized to be sold for a measly dollar. Yeah, flags are easy to reproduce, but the issue is not that. Another comment mentioned it, but these people can't pick colors for SHIT. The flags next to the characters ALWAYS look so out of place and combined with the wonky drawing skills just makes it worse.

And then the overcompensation. If you need to shout out how gay you are to someone, you probably aren't confident in yourself. It's the same thing when a closeted straight guy tries desperately to prove they aren't gay. It backfires. Hard. I always find it funny when people say "down with capitalism UWU" and not to buy anything from businesses for pride, but then go on to create souless reincarnations of their own work. Every single pride artwork I see on Tumblr is the same shit.

-More than one type of flag exists. (Do we fucking really need a lesbian flag? Everyone knows the rainbow means your gay. Your not missing out on anything.)

Hell the most original art I've seen for pride are four different characters all not a stereotype (they were wearing the flag colors) in different types of street clothes. It surprised me so much because they actually looked normal.
I love how people have been fighting so damn hard to get rid of the stereotypical LGBT person, but all of sudden during pride, it's perfectly okay to reinforce negative stereotypes. Remember, it's only okay when an LGBT member does it. If your straight, you deserve to die for accidentally misgendering someone in a drawing.

pixiv is a good place, but it is full of homoerotic fanart and yaoi, the good side is that they respect the canon and, although there are drawings of tumblr users, there are not so many. pixiv ignores those fetishes a bit

Here below it says that the man spent several years living in Japan, is a fan of Japanese culture and can speak the language. And a BleedingCool article (https://www.bleedingcool.com/2017/11/28/marvel-eic-c-b-cebulski-akira-yoshida/) claims that some of his family lives in said country. Seems he's just a Weeaboo-type to me and seems fairly harmless.

Years ago He adapted a Japanese pen name when writing comics. I've known people who have adopted English first and last names, speak English properly and live in an English speaking country but don't have any ancestral roots to England. And they're usually not called racist or clowned for doing that.

Having traveled to many parts of the world, I also find it funny people said that this author and I saw several other similar sentiments saying that is wrong that he is a "White Man who pretended to be Japanese". I know Japan is fairly homogeneous and like 98-99% of the country is of Asian background but there is still that 1-2% and If this man were to say get a Japanese citizenship for example would people still call him racist?

EDIT: Okay it said that he tried to advance his career but so what? Again many people anglicize their names to make it in the West.. so?

TBH, with the stigma of the lengths weeaboos go to "become Japanese" this really doesn't seem that off to me. While admiration is something nice it is completely different from obsession. In my honest opinion if the guy just admired the culture and liked it so much, he could've made his work without pretending to be a Japanese guy. There are plenty of Japanese people interested in American culture and they have done works inspired by that but you don't see them trying to become American.

Like do cringey people on both sides exist? Yeah. And the guy is free to use whatever name he wants I guess, but I still find it odd he wants people to forget about it when he got caught. If he simply didn't want an issue he could've just said he didn't care, but to me it seems like he's just covering himself.

You're more prone to notice your own flaws and imperfections on your own body, rather than on others' bodies.

They're basically drawing from themselves, using their own bodies as references.

Character design 101 is learning to omit unnecessary details that detract from the design. Visually it sticks out like a sore thumb when you draw a girl with hairy armpits, so it has to make sense with the character or else all you remember about them is the hairy armpits.

Sexuality pride is pointless. Why take pride in your sexual preference? Of course I could argue about why lesbian-gay-bisexual get lumped with trans, but sex pride is just dumb to me. Take pride in accomplishing something meaninful in life; not the desire to put your dick in a dude's butt.
