I'd rather eat one my foots than choose between the two, a third option would be useful. What's you guys opinions on the posibility that Wesley was at least a Roddenberry self-insert? I read or heard that somewhere

Given that Roddenberry's full name was Eugene Wesley Roddenberry, I believe that story without reservation. From what I've heard, the guy never failed to grasp when the occasion allowed- didn't he write lyrics to the Star Trek theme (which were never used) just so he could get a cut of the royalties?

Once heard a comment, I forget from where, to the effect that "Gene Roddenberry did two great things for Star Trek: first, he created it, and second, he died." The idea being that once the money-grubbing sleaze had finally kicked the bucket, the people in charge of the property he created could spin this fairytale about Gene, the noble dreamer looking to a brighter tomorrow for everyone and all that horsehockey. Note how a lot of the best of Trek- like the Dominion War- was only possible after he'd shoved off.

The difference is, nobody's going to bother to create any self-serving fairy tales about Wil. Once the will is executed, nobody will think of him at all ever again.

Poll Options:
>a certified lunatic judging by his medium post
>someone who fucked and married their way to the "top"
I'm disappointed there isn't a third option in the poll called: "That shotgun is looking awfully friendly..."
There needs to be a shut the fuck up, Wesley option.

Ask and ye shall receive.

Potential peace with North Korea? REEEEEEEEEEEEEE

Screen Shot 2018-06-10 at 1.53.58 PM.png

That emoji looks more like OPL wearing the Classic. Also, what do the Russians have to do with a peace summit between the Norks and the US?

See, anything Trump does is bad, so therefore the potential of an official end of the war between North and South Korea is all a Russian trick to keep the pee-tape underwraps, despite continued debunking of the Trump/Russia narrative. Don't you know that freedom is slavery, my good kiwis?
(Look for articles in the near future talking about how Obama and Hilary are actually responsible for North Korea coming to the summit and Trump is just getting all the credit).

*sigh*

every time I see this thread pop up I hope beyond hope that wil has finally been #MeToo'd.

every time I wind up sadly disappointed.

But yeah. Wil is one of the finer examples of the "media hipster bubble" in action. So sheltered, so coddled, so obsessive about blocking out any possible contrary opinion and badthink is he, that he is unironically throwing shitfits at the very idea of the korean war and nuclear crises coming to a peaceful end, solely because he doesnt like the person responsible. Hes the kind of guy who would gleefully applaud a new holocaust solely because Trump said he opposed such a thing happening, and then strut about in ultimate smugness about how "woke" he is.

Pretty much. Like I said, tales paint him as using the casting couch quite a bit, and he had a petty, mean-spirited sense of humor and a complete disrespect for anyone that wasn't himself, and he really wasn't terribly creative or thoughtful, and for all his public espousing of being for the greater good and utopian communism he never met a cash-in, halfassed merchandising deal, or get rich quick scam that he didn't like.

But most of that just makes him a douche, not a monster.

I'm pretty sure that Roddenberry and L. Ron Hubbard knew each other and were friendly to some extent. Birds of a feather, using their modest talent to get some trim and money.

They were friends.

And once Roddenberry was running Star Trek, he had firm ideas about how everything should run—and a lot of them were dictated by his new belief in his own status as a humanist visionary who saw the future of the human race as a kind of secular “heaven” where nobody ever had any conflict or disagreements of any kind. In one telling bit, Rick Berman (an exec who later became the show’s producer) says Roddenberry used to talk about being friends with L. Ron Hubbard—and Roddenberry would boast that he, too, could have started a religion if he’d wanted.

Everything the TNG crew says about Zephram Cochrane in First Contact can be applied directly to Gene Roddenberry.

I don't watch most of the shows Felicia Day is in. I vaguely recall her being in Buffy but I think it was well after that show took a nosedive.

Being a Mistie I do want to talk about her involvement with the new season(s). It was touched on earlier but I think it bears emphasizing just how terrible she was in S11.

If you're gonna do a baddie woman SHE CANNOT HAVE A PAPER THIN VOICE. That was a big part of Mary Jo Pehl's take on Pearl Forrester. She had the commanding fat woman voice that instantly drew you in. Day squeaks like a church mouse. "I will rule the world".

Fucking
Squeak.

Her timing is awful. She's not a half beat behind, she's a full beat behind. Despite being a cunt, Patton Oswalt can be funny when he's not politicking. You can tell that he can't do anything with her. They have no chemistry whatsoever. It's like the worst vaudeville routine ever conceived.

That song Day did with Neal Patrick Harris was fucking awful. And way too long. Full disclosure - I thought Dr Horrible was also terrible. I remember the blank look of one of my friends when I told them that I thought it was bad. They were so perplexed that I didn't "get it". I got it alright...millenial humor is shitty.

The show did her no favors, either. In one episode she legitimately flubbed a line and it was left in. That was actually kind of mean of them. Unless, of course, it was like Rocky II and she just kept flubbing them so bad that they had to take the best of the worst.

One of the things that was a minor miracle in S11 was the relative lack of full open SJW political nonsense. Yes there were some consistent jabs but with people like Day and Oswalt... And Ray... And Harmon .. And that Daily Show guy... And others... I was expecting a lot worse.

I'm thinking they're going to make up for lost time in S12.

Day is terrible, Jonah has no fucking charisma, the bots sound almost identical to each other, and the host segments are just them showing off their expensive toys for no good reason; Joel's show and tell segments worked because he took trash and did things with it, laser etching designs into birchboard is not the same. Oswald, as much as I hate the fucker, is the closest to competent but the character is fucking cringy awful.

While the riffs are not a constant stream #woke (which is a miracle given those involved) the riffs are basically "The 80s.... yeah you know what I'm talking about. Videogames references, you know? And twitter? Haha the internet, am I right? Am I right guys? You know I'm right."
Its become Millenial Science Theater.

I posted this article earlier which (unintentially) explains why this incarnation is terrible.

And of course S12 is going to be a SJW cringefest; have to #resist after all.

Unfortunately I have to agree with this. It'll be magnified, too, because it's only over 6 episodes.

I will put this out there - Day is more ruinous to MST3K than Wheaton was to ST:TNG. She is like a comedy cooler.

Yeah. Almost like the only reason she was ever able to get a career in media in the first place was by sucking Joss Whedon's respectful male feminist ally dick to get a role in Buffy (and again in Doctor Horrible), and then milk her steadily fading looks to farm attention and money from autistic nerds too nervous to get their jollies on PornHub and even more autistic media hipsters desperate for a woman who wouldnt scream and call the cops when they made a move

You know, by the time you finished you'd descended into a sort of anti-SJW aphasia, but goddamn if it didn't have a beauty to it, like a Kiwi Farms Finnegans Wake. :semperfidelis:

Jonah Ray is not any better, except he understands the concept of comedic timing (he can't execute on it, but he gives the impression he understands how it is supposed to work). Here, "enjoy" some of his stand up.

Its like they deliberately found the least funny people on the planet for the reboot. Probably because anyone who was actually funny was to problematic.

Pivoting back to the "A" story, I find it highly amusing that Wil's wife subconsciously must have no respect for him whatsoever. Even the worst gender studies, SJW cuntbag can't escape tens of thousands of years of evolution.

Women deep down want a man who makes them feel safe. When they defy that programming and settle for a fey manbaby who needs to be coddled during panic attacks they start to act out. They start to take fake cuckolding pictures that are "LOL so funny" as cover for getting BBC'd while he's off at CuckCon '18.
