When this first started, I wanted to not get involved and thought people were being stupid for giving this attention instead of paying attention to actual gaming journalism.
And it has snowballed into the goddamn epitome of gaming journalism.
I only started reading the chat log but from the VERY little I've read (it's very long) the it's worth noting some thing. Someone suggested they just plaster Zoe's nudes everywhere and they got shot down and told that would accomplish nothing. They knew to keep it away from /b/ because that would make shit escalate fast and become a total joke. That was Aug 18th though and we all know things have gotten much more heated since then. I just wanted to point out how (at least early on) there were voices of reason that right away wanted to center in on Kotaku and the indie game industry rather than Zoe. I'll read on later tonight.
I also want to say that these people started out trying to get as many sources as possible and realized possibly damning information was being deleted as they were talking. It's interesting how someone they were trying to follow up on deleted their facebook the second this shit exploded.
The thing is that I know the contents of this log won't change much. Very few people will read all of it. It will be quoted by both sides and I doubt the quotes will remain in context. It's already been presented as "damning evidence". I saw Zoe's screenshots linked by a friend on my facebook. I asked if there was a pastebin, he said no. People were talking about how they were laughing at #gamergate, how great it was they were exposed. I came here and turns out cameralady (who is on the #gamergate side and in the chat) had apparently already made the full chatlogs public. I linked it in his comments. I don't expect any of them to read it. Nobody has replied to the link I left.

Internet Aristocrat mentioned in a podcast he posted that Social Justice Warriors are inherently narcissistic. The thought process is by claiming you are constantly oppressed by someone else it justifies your radical positions and obliterates the need to improve yourself since you're thought about as a victim. It serves a double function in that if someone disagrees with you, you can quote them out of context and give them a harsh label such as misogynist or racist in an attempt to shut them up to squash criticism. He equated them to roughly the same level as viruses because of their tendencies to migrate toward something that is popular and then turn it into something completely different for their own ends.

Internet Aristocrat held a live stream last night on youtube to discuss this whole drama (and a bunch of unrelated stuff) since he took questions from twitter and youtube chat. It's 2 hours, and since I'm sick I only tuned in for maybe 20 - 30 minutes last night, but from what I caught it was really informative and pretty scathing.
Also, Kotaku has posted their own take on the entire thing, and as always have done their best to white-wash it and reconn their involvement to being as minimal as possible. The only reason I can think they would write an article like that is because people have still been emailing / tweeting advertisers and they're doing their best to shut people up and get them to stop calling them out.
But that's all baseless speculation from an internet nerd.
If Cwckiforums involvement wants to be none why not just make a banner at the top of the site saying there was zero involvement?

We have a lolcow thread about Wizardchan and have been visited by some disgruntled wizards, but I don't think we collectively want to harm their site. Screw the pedo wizards though.

Not to mention, trying to troll people is against the rules of this site but they probably won't care and they think that one post is enough evidence to say we orchestrated it all.

Not one person has come forward to talk about this with us so I can only assume it's unimportant. Anyone perpetuating this shit doesn't care about what we have to say anyways, they're probably the same person who made the image to begin with just regurgitating it constantly.
